1. EKSTASIS

The throbbing of the blood can be but subtly guessedThat has the sheeted sand so slowly ebb awayBeneath, skin smooth as silk, so smooth time seems to glideCast there, a drop of foam, merely a bead of salt

It rouses his conscience from its slumber-dream grave,The rising tide at last has unglassed him – a wave -A thorough shake and he’s up, latched on the swirling seasClearing the last few yards towards upper Being.

And his legs akimbo, arms spread out in a decisive stance,He encompasses the deep and the green-tinged skies amirror,Northern lights championing the utmost canopy.

Stars therein fit, they shine o so brightly,Vibrant with a thousand calls to exodus. With a wink that nudges, he dives in the abyss.

2. SUBMERGENCE

Unfettered, unhindered, unencumbered by shade,Sleeking through the shallows, until he cominglesIn his skull, an instinct, certainty of a probe,And deeper, deeper yet, foundering to the Core

No sun shines here, no word worthwhileNo fish either, nor coral reefs,Only mindless spewed-out monstrosities,The Furies from the depths, the innermost guardians.

Solarly tendrilled, monkfish and lampreyAcknowledge his aura, they light him on his fare,Choiring up aloud his first and final dirge.

He’s delving down under, his ken as sole candle,He’s closing on the Rift, millennial fault line,Afraught with dangers ripe, and secrets, mysteries.

4. RECOMBINAISON

The double helix spins, gyroscopic biotope,It shimmers on the walls, close to breaking point,Before it -systole-like- glues itself together. How ends the protocol ? A readier transhuman,

More resistant, stronger, having already passedDeath’s revolving doors that do bring back to life. His conscience is liquid, his body translucent,He now grasps the echoes of immemorial times.

He inspects his body sprung from a miraclePerfectly functional, as would the oracle,Who left for him to reach only the pinnacle,

Wherefrom he will witness the final debacleTo build it back higher, divine architecture,The apex of his quest, the void none the wiser.

3. PASSAGE

Gaping so beyond words, radiating ultrablack,The Rift –the world’s alpha- its memory, its core,Ominous déjà-vu of never seen beforeAlthough disbelieving, he knows not to go back

Dwarfed by the passageway, struck by paralysis,Its giant proportions defy analysisThwarting all human laws and the fear they funnelledUntil his mortal coil is being off-shuffled

His all too human hide suddenly splits apartHis envelope peeled back into DNA stringsThat, letter by letter, spell the arcane of art

Before they twist and turn in seeming wild mood swingsThymine and adenine, cytosine and guanine,In a diaphanous dance combine a new design.

5. ASCENT

Chest forward, legs tight and webbed feet, He dives deeper in the deep to the bottom of the rift,Where our shared unconscious’s digitMost confidently steers him forth

More rocket than man, more museum than ossuary:Along a carved basalt tunnel, that of our idols past To whom along the way his respects he must pay,Jehovah, Dagon, Buddha, Jupiter and Mithras

Beneath their fearless features sizzles a potent glint,The almighty, all encompassing soul,Tireless entity which forever shapes them.

The transhuman glimpses it, this lambent flickering,He has to make it his, to give it impetus,To bestow it his gift, that of humanity.

6. EXTENEBRATION

So close yet far away shines the weak battered wick,The hopeful semaphore that shapes the dark aquiverBorne by Charon, gaunt, grim-faced tricksterAboard his chryselephantine rowboat slick.

And there our herald follows, along the canyon’s eons,Holding betwixt his teeth the mandatory coin,Nugget of cold reason, pledging for higher groundsOut of murky Hades onto a new bold tale.

He boards the dingy dinghy aside the ferrymanAnd witnesses his grimacing metamorphosisTo Saint Peter, to Atlas - from psychopomp pagan -

Before the truth bursts out into a thousand shardsPiercing through the dark veils of gloomy GehennaPropelling him haloed back above the surface.

7. MO(NO)DIFICATION

The same sand that has borne witness to the eternal gestNow bears the august tread of he who the abyss spat backAfter he overcame the diktat of the inner self.Immutable he walks, dismissive of his wings.

The ice-night-desert melts away when in the skyThe glorious incandescence anchors itself firmly,Barely eliciting a wink – focussed as he is upon his final goal. The Adonis has higher spheres to consider, and wormholes.

And thus excoriated, rawboned and dispulped,Under the black sun, sacrificial butcher,He strides across the scorched ground without a single tremor.

The leukosis is now complete, his epidermis charred,Indefatigably he weaves his sandy way across the dune,Connecting Neptune’s realm to that of the Moon.

8. INFINITY

And he takes to the sky among vespertinal mirages,Soon breaking through fluff and heavenly vault,Tearing across the ether out of sheer willpower,He rewrites History in the fabric of the void.

The celestial sloughing is on and it’s in full gloryHis comet-tail nimbus cleaving the vastness of it allThat he leaves this doomed galaxy,No longer a pulsar, call him quasi-stellar.

From his terrestrial sojourn, he brings back Life :Some speckles of stardust, home to polished atoms,Enough to fertilize chance cosmic oases.

So now he has to find the odd planet tinged blueBy H2O – propitious to amphibious birthings,Which, eon after eon, shall perpetuate the cycle.
