The 2019 March for Life will be held in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 18. It is the largest pro-life event
in the world with a mission to end abortion by uniting, educating, and mobilizing pro-life people in the public
square. With enough interest, Prince of Peace hopes to put a trip together to attend. And, we have it on
good authority that Fr. Smith would like to go, too! Sign up below to be part of the interest and planning
group so that a plan can be developed!

Suggested Title: Our Lady of Fatima and the Fall of
Communism
Craig Turner, a well-respected
journalist and researcher, shares
the unmistakable connection be-
tween the apparitions of our
Blessed Mother at Fatima in 1917
and the fall of communism in Eu-
rope more than seventy years
later. This talk is sure to provide a greater awareness
of the motherly help and protection that Mary offers
mankind through her powerful intercession. The im-portance of entrusting ourselves to her care has nev-
er been so evident as it is today.

The Five First Saturdays devotion – Our Lady of Fati-ma appeared to 3 children in 1917, and requested a particular devotion on 5 consecutive FIRST Satur-days. This devotion is one of the principal points of the Fatima message. It centers on the urgent need for mankind to offer reparation and expiate for the many injuries that the Immaculate Heart of Mary suf-fers from the hands of both impious and indifferent men. To help you fulfill this request made by Our Lady of Fatima, plan to attend our First Saturday Masses on November 3, December 1, January 5, February 2,March 2, April 6, and May 4. • On the First Saturday during 5 Consecutive
Months, the Devotion consists of 1) Going to Confession, 2) Receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion, 3) Saying five decades of the Ro-sary, and 4) Meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary. All offered in REPARATION for the sins of blasphemy and ingratitude committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Happenings & Needs
Churching of Mothers is a very ancient blessing for mothers after the birth of their child. In the Old Tes-tament, mothers undertook a purification ritual after birth. With Jesus, we are all purified at baptism, so there is no longer a need for that. But for many cen-turies, mothers would come to church and ask the priest for a special blessing in thanksgiving for their child. Because it was often the first time they came to church after their recovery, in English speaking countries, it was often referred to as “churching.” For the second year, we would like to add to our increasingly diverse celebration of blessings through-out the year a communal “churching” for all women who have had a child in the past year who want to give thanks to God for the life of their child by means of this special blessing. Next Sunday (14 October) at the 10a Mass, we will revive once again this ancient custom as a means of observing Respect Life Month.

$3.25 SC seniors (age 65 & older); $3/ child age 6-15;

cludes access to our designated swimming area when
it is open. Call John Olson with questions!
Please be mindful of our Lord’s presence whenever
you are in the church. Making a sign of reverence
when you pass the tabernacle, maintaining prayerful
silence before and after Mass, and silencing cell
phones are all practices we would benefit from fol-
lowing—not simply out of respect for our Lord, but
also for the benefit of our fellow parishioners.
