Prior to cab installation, the John DeerePro Gator machine should be fitted withthe John Deere Heavy Duty Leaf SpringKit, Deere part #BM20433.

Use the following torque settings for allROPS fasteners: for 3/8” bolts, 42 ft-lbs,for ½” bolts, 73 ft-lbs.

1. Remove 2-post ROPS guard, but keepROPS fasteners to be re-used later, andremove left and right front bumperendcaps from machine but keep bolts to be re-used later. Disconnect seat plugs andremove both seats from platform.

2. Holes must drilled into the machinechassis prior to installation. Using Figure 1 as a guide, measure 2 3/16” along left top edge of the front chassis crossmember, and then measure 1 ½” down from thatpoint to locate hole centre and drill a13/16” hole through bottom, and a ½” holethrough the top of the operator footplatform as shown in Figure 2. Repeat forthe right side. (Note that right side ofmachine is shown in both Figure 1 & 2)

3. Using Figure 3 as a guide, locate thebottom hole in the green plastic panel andenlarge hole so that it is 7/8”. The steelhole must also be enlarged to a 7/16” hole. Repeat for the right side of the machine.

4. Take the left rear cab bracket and slideit down into the left 2-post ROPS socket. Using the factory ROPS hardware, loosely secure the bracket into place. (See Figure4) Repeat for the right rear bracket. Donot torque down the brackets until aftercab has been installed.

5. Take the 180° O-rubber and move to the front steel hood shield. Start from the leftside, ½” from outside edge and slideO-rubber onto panel and begin workingyour way from left to right and stop ½”from the right side. (See Figure 5)

6. Take the 180° O-rubber and move tolower left side panel. Slide O-rubber ontosteel panel, and begin working your wayback and all around the rear cab and backup around the side panel until you areopposite from where you began. (SeeFigures 6 & 7)

7. Now you are ready to install the cab. Remove both doors, and install cab liftbrackets through the pre-drilled holesinto ROPS frame which is located abovethe B-post. The lift brackets are meant tostick away from the roof and allow a strapor chain to be attached and hoist the cabover the machine. HINT: the cab is notmeant to drop straight down over the unit, the middle of the cab must drop down over the front hood and then slide back to therear brackets. Ensure that all levers inthe centre console of the machine are

lowered to provide clearance for the cab. Lift the cab until the machine hood iscentred below the cab. Slowly lower thecab until the cab clears the hood and thefront mount, and the operator platformclears the bottom of the plastic panel fromFigure 3. Slowly slide the cab backwardsuntil the hood shield contacts the hood ofthe machine, and lower the cab down ontothe machine. Take the left front bracketand one tube spacer and slide the frontbracket into position as shown in Figure 8.

The tube spacer is used between the twoholes drilled in step 2. Slide one ½” x 3 ½”hex bolt and the ½” grade 8 steel flatwasher through the bottom of the bracket, through the foot platform and secure withone ½” locking hex nut. Take the 3/8” x 2”hex bolt and slide it through the top holeof the bracket and through the holeenlarged in Figure 3. Repeat for the rightside. Place one isolator on each mountpad, and secure with one ½” x 3” hex bolt,

9/16” x 2 ½” steel flat washer, 9/16” x 2 ½”rubber flat washer, and ½” locking hexnut at each mount using Figure 9 as aguide.

Torque all ROPS fasteners to torque specs provided earlier as soon as all hardware is loosely started and ensure that rubberisolator protrusion fits into mount plate.

8. Take the left front enclosure panel andinstall 180° O-rubber onto the right edgeas shown in Figure 10. Install with three#8 x ¾” sheetmetal screws.

9. Route the electrical wiring around theleft rear mount as shown in Figure 9 andslide down into engine bay. Connect the

heavy red wire to 12V. Connect the heavyblack wire to vehicle ground. Connect theorange wire to a switched source.

10. Take the left lower bumper enclosurepanel removed in step one, and removethe two extruded 6MM panel nuts and two M6 x 25MM button head screws andinstall panel nuts onto new left lowerbumper end caps into the two drilledholes. Slide the bumper cap into thecentre of the bumper and fasten with thetwo button head screws. Snap the rightside of the bumper cap inside of the A-post of the cab. Repeat for the right side andsee Figure 11.

11. Reinstall the passenger and driverseats removed in step one. Take thefloormat and position onto the operatorplatform and ensure all pedals haveadequate clearance and full range oftravel. Make any necessary changes tothe floormat and glue into place.

IF cab is equipped with a heater, proceedwith steps 12-13.

12. Drain antifreeze from engine beforeproceeding. Remove thermostat sendingunit, and remove plug from underneaththe thermostat sending unit as shown inFigure 12. USE A WATER SEALANTMATERIAL AROUND ALL FITTINGS. Insert one 5/8 barb x 3/8 NPT 180° fittinginto the plug hole from the previous step. Take the sending unit and screw into theend of the 16MM sensor adaptor. Slowlyturn the sensor adaptor and the o-ringinto the sending unit port and screw untilone-half a turn is left, since there are twopossible locations for the other barbfitting, one of the holes must be pluggedwith the plug from the other fitting hole.

Put the other fitting into the adaptor andrun the pressure side heater hose to thisfitting. Drill two 1 3/8” holes into theoperator platform to run the heater hoseand grommet through near the two-postsocket mount. Run the hose to the heaterfittings and ensure that there is adequatehose and then cut the hose. Attach thepressure hose to the thermostat adaptorfitting and the other hose to the otherfitting. Attach the hose with two HS-10clamps. Reconnect wires that run to thesending unit.

13. Refill the engine anti-freeze. Open the cab heater valve using the rotary controlon the switchplate and turn on the fan. Start the vehicle and run at PTO RPM forfive minutes to build up engine heat. Check for leaks and add anti-freeze ifrequired. For maximum heater efficiency, all air trapped in the heater system mustbe evacuated. Continue running theengine and adding antifreeze as requireduntil cab heater produces hot air. HINT:In order to get the heater to functionproperly if may be necessary to run theengine with the radiator cap open andstart and stop the engine a few times inorder to purge any air out of the system.
