cherished memories of coorg. Kicking start our day on a cold morning, we departed on

a bumpy yet fun-filled ride towards our first destination- Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary.

After searching for the exotic birds amidst the dense trees (not that fruitful though) we embarked on a rather unstable yet memorable boat ride.

The hungry pelicans swooping low to catch fish was surely a sight to behold. The centre of attraction of this ride was of course the crocodiles basking in the sunlight. Probably waiting for a prey…. not us hopefully.

Our next destination was the tranquil Tibetan Monastery. Bathing in the warm afternoon light, the temple’s grand gates greeted us.

A peaceful aura surrounded the temple, maybe slightly disturbed by our high spirits. Entering the mortal marvel, we were left awestruck by the intricate and symmetric mosaic patterns; yet the limelight of this temple were the three golden statues which had moving eyes seeming to monitor us. The ethereal paintings that adorned the walls does give critics an option of comparing to Europe’s greats.

After this spiritual place, our next destination was Nisargadhama. Having visited the deer park, where the deer showed least interest to our petting demands we rushed towards the gushing waters of Nisargadhama. Promising to wet our knees alone, we decided to enter the waters. Well, thanks to our wild friends, things were not as dry as were supposed to be. From splashing waters to slipping on rocks to singing – we left no stone unturned. Words cannot even begin to describe the fun we had that time.

Reaching our homestay- Jungle kids Coorg Resort, our tired bodies were still spirited enough to have a little fun in the pool. Well that ended day 1 on a high note.

Fast forward our short sleep…DAY 2

A foggy morning greeted us as we awoke before the sun rose and boarded our ride towards MANDALPATTI PEAK -Sunrise point.

We reached the base where a few lucky ones witnessed moving line of stars (UFOs according to some great minds). The jeeps awaited us to escort us through the rough terrain leading to the peak. It was one of the bounciest rides (trust us …it was more gut-wrenching that Bangalore’s potholes). The beauty of the summit and the majestic winds managed to hold us awestruck.…The furious winds blew our minds as well as our hair too!

After a long wait filled with gruelling photo sessions, the entire crowd stood still as the sun rose…higher and higher above the horizon. After feasting our eyes on this, we descended with satisfied eyes and numb fingers towards our returning jeep rides which, in our opinion was the finest yet most thrilling.

Our next destination was DUBBARE. Congregating all our friends in a single raft we set out on a competitive ride. We surely were young and inexperienced Jack Sparrow and Captain Cook. Well this ride again was not as dry as expected. The warm sunlight and fast paced water – definitely the recreation therapy we craved for!

Drawing curtains on the night was the unforgettable camp fire. The fire danced to our tunes unchoreographed moves. Smiles and jokes and playful banters under the starry night sky…. That was one unforgettable night!

Day 3- We awoke, full of positive energy. This was the day we were all waiting for!

Trekking – Tadiandamol Peak. Set at 5735 ft. we started out for the summit with our ecstatic spirits.

Woving through the jungle tracks, we felt like Bear Grylls in his adventures. Tripping on stones, sliding on grass and smooth rocks, to taking minute breaks on anything we could rest on…. well it was a tough climb!

Our resilient minds did conquer the summit and were amazed by the panoramic view of mother nature which was heavenly. Was it worth it………? YESS YESS YESS YESSYESSS!! (despite our lack of hydration supplies).

We descended with ease of course and thankfully it was not pitch black.

Like all great things our trip too ended…...but with amazing memories and new friends.

Till the next trip….

JUST LIVE IN NOSTALGIA
