JOB PURPOSE

Accountable to the Head of Department for Wildlife and Aquatic Resources (WAR), the incumbent will be responsible for the following, among others:i.To provide academic leadership in the department and faculty, which entails making original contribution to the discipline through research and scholarship.ii.To provide leadership in scholarship of research and make significant contribution to the administration of faculty/institution. iii.To individually and collaboratively engage in teaching, research and academic leadership and develop as well as service activities. iv.To teach undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g. Introduction to Evolutionary Biology, Wildlife Ecology, Behavioural Ecology, Research Techniques in Wildlife Management, Climate Change and Wildlife, Conservation Planning, Protected Areas Management, Wildlife Utilisation and Policies in Wildlife Management).v. Supervise undergraduate and graduate projects.

THE REQUIREMENTS

i. Possess a minimum of Doctoral Degree or equivalent in wildlife management. ii. Minimum of eight years (8) years’ experience of lecturing in a university or equivalent. iii. Should have served at position of Associate Professor for three (3) years and have made significant and original contribution to the discipline through research and scholarship. iv. Minimum of twenty (20) pieces of published research products (e.g. books, book chapters and journal articles), eight (8) of which are refereed journal articles which reflect a spread of national, regional and international journals, lead and or single author in at least six (6) refereed journal articles or book chapters. v. Research profile should provide evidence of research mentorship to junior scholars.vi. Demonstrate academic leadership, service to the university, the profession and the community and provide evidence of attracting research grants/funds.vii. Possession of qualification, which is recognised by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA), certificates of competence in Training of Trainers, Moderator and Assessor are added advantages.
