One River Gallery presents “Botanic Revival” a two-person exhibition of work by Amy Lincoln and JJ Manford Exhibition Dates: May 9 – June 7 Opening Reception: Saturday, May 9, 7-9pm One River Gallery is in full-bloom with its newest exhibition of paintings of the twisted, magical flora by artists Amy Lincoln and JJ Manford. ‘Still lifes’ here are anything but ’still’- with a visual energy and radiance both artists construct a mystical realm where plants, flowers, gardens and landscapes are revived. “Botanic Revival” begins with works by Amy Lincoln that explore the complexities of specific plant species through a colorful, patterned approach. JJ Manford seeks to create an animated visual energy and undecipherable mystery in his glassy-jade-like palm fronds and flowers. Manford reveals the vulnerability of his animals, trees and landscapes by exposing their mystical side with glowing and vivid hues in abstracted forms. “Botanic Revival: Amy Lincoln & JJ Manford” will be presented at One River Gallery May 9 th through June 7 th with an opening reception on Saturday, May 9 th 7-9pm. One River Gallery , located at 49 N. Dean Street in Englewood, NJ, is dedicated to presenting innovative exhibitions by emerging and mid-career contemporary artists to residents of northern New Jersey and the tri-state area. The space is also home to One River School, a new direction in creative education. Focused on the importance of lifelong creative learning, One River School offers a wide variety of art classes and programs for all ages. Together, One River Gallery and School will introduce leading artists and curators to the region’s art enthusiasts, providing valuable insight to - and education about - contemporary art. Meet the Artists

Amy lives and works in Brooklyn. She received her MFA in

2006 from Temple University and her undergraduate

degree from the University of California in 2003. Her work

has been exhibited in NY, California, Oregon, Connecticut

and Maine as well as internationally in France and

Japan. Her work is currently on display at Morgan Lehman

Gallery in NY as part of the group exhibition "20 x 16." Amy

Lincoln seeks inspiration for her paintings from trips to

places outside New York City such as the

Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona, or the

suburbs of Portland, Oregon, where she grew up as well as

the flowers and trees growing in New York City’s

cemeteries, parks, and neighbors’ gardens.

Born in 1983, JJ Manford is an artist living and working in

Brooklyn. He received his undergraduate degree from

Cornell University, in 2006, and his MFA from Hunter

College in 2013. He has exhibited in Chicago, New York,

Philadelphia, London, and recently had a solo show,

entitled "The Brink of Utterance", at John Davis Gallery in

Hudson, NY., and a two person exhibition at Freight and

Volume, with Max Razdow, entitled "Through Every

Leaf". JJ is also a co-founder of the Brooklyn based artist

collective Underdonk and has organized projects

independently, which have been featured in Hyperallergic,

Two Coats of Paint, Art Critical and The Huffington Post.

Most recently, he lead a critique as a MFASO visiting artist

at Hunter College, NY, and as a visiting Painting Critic for

Bruce High Quality Foundation University.
