What We Do
Research
CollaborationAction
How do you know if something is a good purchase?
2 brains ≠ >2x smartness | 2 brains ≠ =< 2x smartnessIt’s about having the right mixture of people and managing environment!
“We are going to bully people who do not know!”
Collaboration ≠ CompromisingCollaboration ≠ DominatingCollaboration ≠ Delegate & Receive Collaboration = Working together, and coming up with a better solution
“Good artists copy, great artists steal” – Pablo Picasso (quoted by Steve Jobs)
Investment is like going shopping or finding a spouse!
Track your recommendations to see how right you are!
“The biggest mistake you can make is making the same mistakes”
Be flexible (flexible ≠ switching all the time)

A Note On Analyst Guide Book
It is NOT complete!
We will update research
materials as we go
BUT DO USE IT
For Example: Ever Questioned…?
Why do we have cross sectional analysis for industry review?
What is the purpose of an industry breakdown?
Year Schedule
Industry Review (POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE?)
Company Analysis (BUY
OR SELL)
Investment Recommendation
Remember, the fundamentals can change during your period
of research. That is OK!
Your First Couple of Weeks
Pick a regular meeting time and
place (first meeting does not have to be in a
classroom)
Get to know your JA and keep track of new JA (don’t
forget to take them out of the other
sector)
Know what industries are in your sector and
pick an industry of your group’s
interest
If there is an INDUSTRY we STRONGLY DISCOURAGE, we will NOTIFY YOU
Put these information on the SHARED GOOGLE EXCEL
End of Semester Feedback

Measurements
1. Research Skills• Analysis• Knowledge• Quick to learn new concepts
2. Leadership and Team Skills• Communication• Teaching • Acknowledges mistakes• Corrects mistakes• Open minded
THIS IS YOU
Senior Analysts
Research Tone down the language so that Junior Analysts can understand Research: Direct, do and collaborate. Do not solely rely on Junior Analysts (they know little) Use what you know and learned in class Use everyone and anyone as resources (including other senior analysts) — you might need to
make appointments Hard resources: GOOGLE has a lot of stuff, do not forget books, articles and magazines (do some
digging and thinking before asking around)
Collaboration Have objectives for your team meetings and think of how to approach the objectives Be or sound confident It’s managing environment, not managing people Ask other members to find out what was successful for them and why? Sometimes, it is not them, but it is YOU: HOW YOU SAY, and WHAT YOU SAY Get to know your junior analysts by doing something outside of the club
