About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. In fact, when breast cancer is detected early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. « If you are a woman age 40 to 49, talk with your primary care provider about when to start getting mammograms and how often to get them. « If you are a woman age 50 to 74, be sure to get a mammogram every one to two years. Talk to your primary care provider to schedule your mammogram. If you are between the ages of 50 to 74 and have not had your mammogram in the last two years, please call 608-392-9822 to schedule your appointment today! Don’t let convenience stop you from getting a mammogram. Mayo Clinic Health System – Franciscan Healthcare offers a mobile mammography unit for appointments close to your home – including some worksites. The modern, deluxe unit is self-contained with everything needed to provide digital mammography right in your community. Of course, permanent site mammography is also offered in many of our locations. Talk to your primary care provider about your risk for breast cancer, especially if a close family member of yours has had breast or ovarian cancer. Despite a change in venue because of high water levels this spring, the 2 nd annual Big Blue Dragon Boat Race was a huge success. As sunshine broke through the clouds on Saturday morning, July 5, Copeland Park in La Crosse was flooded with more than 2,000 people, including 1,100 paddlers showing their pride and team spirit in support of breast cancer awareness and survivorship. Excitement was in the air as 52 teams – 29 community, 19 corporate, and four breast cancer survivors teams – joined in the fun, teamwork, and competition of the 270-meter races on the Black River. The community’s collective paddle power raised more than $50,000 to benefit the Center for Breast Care at Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare. Area women served by programs for breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship will benefit from the funds raised. If you are diagnosed with an ongoing health condition, you will receive a letter and a call from the CARE Enhance Program, offered as part of your Health Tradition benefit. We know that living with a chronic health condition can be difficult. Part of Health Tradition Health Plan’s mission is to improve the health of our members. To help you reach that goal, we offer the CARE Enhance health management program. It is completely voluntary, and is available to all eligible Premier, Premier Plus, Premier One and BadgerCare Plus members at no additional cost.

» Added Support – The Care Enhance Program offers added support to members living with the daily challenges of a chronic health condition, such as asthma, diabetes, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or back pain. You’ll be able to work with a specially trained registered nurse who will provide one-on-one counseling, education and information designed to help you manage and improve your health.

» Access to Nurse Advice Line – Once enrolled in the Care Enhance Program, you have 24/7 access to a nurse advice line. This valuable service is available when-ever you need it to answer any health care questions you may have. The nurse advice line is offered at no cost to Care Enhance members and is a reliable, conve-nient resource any time you are sick, hurt, or have urgent health questions.

» Your Nurse Liaison – The helpful nurses at the Care Enhance Program will help you collaborate with your doctor and will work with you to help you understand your doctor’s prescribed treatment plan. The Care Enhance Program nurses will also keep your doctor informed about your progress in the program.

If you are eligible for the Care Enhance Program, you will receive a letter and a phone call from a friendly agent who will tell you more about the program and answer your questions. CARE Enhance ProgramSupport for Those Living with Chronic Health Conditions

Health Tradition’s focus on wellness in the workplace just expanded with WellMe, a quarterly email-based update exploring ways to stay healthy on the job.

WellMe will include articles about how organizations promote wellness, from raising awareness about available Health Tradition wellness benefits to promoting CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farms. It will also include topics based on Mayo Clinic research and insights from local Mayo Clinic Health System workplace health specialists. Articles will be archived on Health Tradition’s website.

Each Wellness at Work employee group challenge will be highlighted, with tips on running a successful challenge and seeing how area companies implement the program. Wellness at Work is a self-directed health initiative that promotes lifestyle change through peer-to-peer motivation. It was introduced by Health Tradition earlier this year and is now used by more than 40 companies.

Open Enrollment 2015Helping You Understand Your Insurance OptionsOpen Enrollment 2015 is right around the corner! Individuals seeking insurance cover-age can begin signing up on November 15. If this is your first time signing up, or if you are a renewing member, there are a few important things that you need to know:

» For new enrollees – between November 15, 2014 you can visit healthcare.gov to get a quote and fill out an application for coverage that begins on January 1, 2015. The deadline to enroll for January 1, 2015 coverage is December 15, 2014. The last day to sign up for coverage during open enrollment is February 15, 2015 for a start date of March 1, 2015. Please do not wait to enroll.

» For renewing members – be on the look-out for your 2015 eligibility letter that will be mailed to you from the marketplace. Between November 15 and December 15, you will need to log into your online account, or call healthcare.gov to update your profile with 2015 information. At this time you can also verify that you want to renew your current plan, or select a different plan option for 2015. For more information, visit healthtradition.com.
