SHIFTS IN VERB TENSEWHAT IS IT?

A verb tense shift is when the writer accidentally swaps between the present tense (for example) to the past tense.

IDENTIFY THE VERBS IN THE FOLLOWING PASSAGE:

AFFECT VS. EFFECTThe majority of the time you

use affect as a VERB and effect as a NOUN.

When Should You Use Affect?• Affect with an a means "to

influence.” • The arrows affected the Aardvark.• The rain affected Amy's hairdo. Affect can also mean, roughly, "to act in a way that you don't feel”.• She affected an air of superiority.
