    rag fo Batt

Running distance on one charge variesdepending on riders weight, wind resistance, outdoor temperature, terrain, etc. Riders canexpect to get up to 2 hours of battery life innormal at conditions.

Thigs ou ca o to icaspfoac:

Pop ga usag : Pedaling in the correctgear for the terrain will help save energy forboth you and the battery.

Tis : Always make sure the tires are at thecorrect pressure as indicated on the side-wall. This will give lower rolling resistance

and better performance. If your tires start toshow excessive wear, replace them. Newtires always perform better!

Ga maitac : Keeping the bicyclecorrectly adjusted and lubricated is impor-tant. Worn or misaligned parts can add dragand resistance which will reduce the rangeof the battery

Awas stat i eco o noa o:Getting going always requires more energythan anything else. Avoid using Turbo modeto start or restart because this uses a lot ofbattery and will shorten the range.

Coct chag a ischag oubatt: Please follow all of the direction forcharging and discharging. Once a batteryhas been mistreated, you cant x it.

Coct sto ou Batt : Once again, please follow all of the directions for storage.

Awas tu off th uit at th coto :Never just remove the battery to turn it off

Tpatu : Both extreme high and lowtemperatures can drain the battery morequickly. So when it is really cold or hot, dont

expect to go as far or as long.

Wi : As with any cycling wind has a hugeeffect on performance. Any headwind willreduce the battery range. Strong headwindscan be worse than even the steepest hill forperformance. Conversely, a good tailwindwill allow you to travel much further thannormal.

His : Like wind, hills play in important partin battery range. Going uphill for any length

of time will reduce the range. Down hill thebattery range will increase because the mo-tor doesnt have to work as hard. Also, trycoasting (stop pedaling) or for longer downhills you can even turn the unit off to helpincrease range.

roa Coitios: Flat smooth roads willallow the bike to roll faster and the batteryto last longer. Ridging on dirt, gravel, gravel, sand, and grassy surface will greatly effectbattery life. So will bumpy or and rough

surface.Stop a Stat : Since more energy is usedduring initial acceleration, riding in condi-tions that force you to start and stop often(i.e. city trafc) will cause the motor to usemore energy.

nub of Batt Chags : Each time thebatter is charged, it will loose its capacity tohold as much charge next time. These loss-es are very small during the life expectancyof the battery, but they will affect range to adegree.

luggag : Luggage is weight that needs to

be moved and this means the motor worksharder so range will decrease when youcarry luggage.

ri Wight : A heaver rider will cause themotor to use more energy than with a lighterrider.

    Batt Tips a Appoxiat lif

The Dahon Boost is equipped with a lithium-

ion battery. If used and maintained properlyit should last approximately 500 chargingcycles. The battery should be replaced whenthe riding distance with a full charge becomesnotably short (in cold areas, the possible ridingdistance may be short even after charging). Please contact your dealer to purchase areplacement battery or to obtain warrantyservice if covered under the limited warranty.

When you rst turn on the unit, make surethere is no pressure on the pedals. Pres-sure or movement of the pedals affects thetorque setting and can cause the unit tofunction incorrectly.

The Boost operates according to the forceapplied to the pedals. If there is no force onthe pedals for ve minutes after the ON but-ton has been pressed, the unit will turn offto save battery charge.

Do not ride through deep puddles or heavyrain. If the assist unit is exposed to lots ofwater or submerged, electric shock mayoccur.

Always park the bicycle on a level surface.

Never lift the bicycle by the battery.

    Usig th Hub Gas

Your Boost is tted with a 3-speed internalgeared rear hub. For general use and useof the bicycle without the Assist unit active, operation of these gears can be found in thestandard Dahon Owners Manual.

nOTe: Your Boost determines your overallspeed based on how fast you are pedaling. All cut-off and assist level speeds are basedon using the bicycle in the third (high) gear atthe hub. Assistance cut-off speeds are greatlyreduced when in the rst and second gears. This is normal and allows usability for a varietyof riding styles and levels.

    riig without Assistac

The Boost has been designed as a lightweightfolding bike. With the assist unit turned off itcan be ridden as a normal bicycle.
