Task Using what you have learnt this half term, write your own shape poem about a river. Remember, your poem must be about rivers and also look like a river!! You can include any information as long as it has something to do with rivers. Why not challenge yourself and see if you can include some rhyming words and some alliteration! Example of Rhyme: The coldness of the river would make you shiver and quiver. Example of alliteration: The roaring river rushed towards the river bank.

LO: To be able to recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things. Rhinoceros are one of the most endangered animals in the world. Unfortunately, there are only five species of rhino left on the planet.

Rhinos are often hunted by poachers for their horns. In some countries, Rhino horns are in demand as people want to use them to create daggers or use them as medicine.

Read the following sections to learn about why rhinos are endangered:

Thankfully, over the last 10 years people have been trying to fight the poachers and stop them from killing the rhinos and stealing their horns. One of the ways that they have achieved this is by painting their horns pink!! This means that the horns are no longer worth anything and therefore the rhinos are not killed!

ART /DESIGN Geography

Art This week, our art lesson will be based on our Science topic. Richard Symonds is a well known artist. Not only does he produce fantastic pieces of art but he has also been actively involved with raising large sums of money and awareness for wildlife through the sale and auction of his original paintings, drawings and limited edition prints. In 2006, Richard hit the headlines when he completed his first life-size oil painting of an African bull elephant called “Tembo”. It sold for a staggering $100,000.00 to a private collector with a large donation from the sale going directly to The Born Free Foundation!! Here is a picture of one of his drawings:

RIVERS – Water Cycle LO: To be able to use appropriate geographical vocabulary related to the topic.

The water cycle is the continuous journey water takes from the sea, to the sky, to the land and back to the sea.

The movement of water around our planet is vital to life as it supports plants and animals. Powered by the Sun, the water cycle is happening all the time around us.

Watch the following videos about the water cycle to help you with your understanding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5gFI3pMvoI

Task

Your task is to create your very own piece of art like Richard Symonds. Your piece of art has to be related to wildlife but it can be of anything that you like! Try your best, remember you are trying to sell your piece of art to raise money for endangered species!

Here is an example without labels of what it might look like!
