Caring is an important value at Bolon – about our employees, our history, the environment and the products we sell. However, we also understand that our obligation to care goes further than this. That’s why we created BOLON CARE+.
BOLON CARE+ is our installation and maintenance concept. The plus simply indicates that the concept is an extension of our basic value – in this case ensuring you have access to the advice and support that optimises your ownership experience.
Our concept adds value from two perspectives. Commercially, you’ll get more from what is a significant invest-ment. And practically, you’ll discover that installation and maintenance are much simpler than you probably thought.
Care with a broader meaning? It could only be Bolon.

Long product life and a stimulating, safe environment – that’s what we aim to deliver every time we install our flooring. To ensure you enjoy these benefits, choosing the right floor for your requirements is essential and to help you do this, we can guide you through these five easy steps.
WHERE – Our flooring is designed for
many environments and we can offer
optimal solutions for premises as diverse
as hotel, office, retail, healthcare, museum,
educational and many more. Where you
might normally consider textile flooring,
Bolon is a great alternative but it can
also be used on other surfaces.
HOW – Will your floor experience heavier
use? If so, durability is a key issue. All
Bolon flooring carries an EN685 Class
32 or 33 durability tag, making it a highly
robust and long lasting when measured
against comparable alternatives.
SPECIAL QUALITIES – Are you seeking
flooring with an attractive textile feel
or other special qualities such as light
reflection? Bolon flooring can offer
these characteristics as well as Bfl-s1
fire resistance and sound insulation
from 11dB.
FORM – We understand that no two
floor spaces are the same. Our flooring
reflects this. Available as tiles, rolls
or even in special sizes, creativity and
functionality live hand-in-hand in every
floor we supply. Use Bolon StudioTM
to create a unique flooring solution
for your needs.
COLOUR AND PATTERN – With the right
shade and pattern, even a larger room
or corridor can convey a real sense of
design unity. Select your design with
respect to this as well as to pragmatic
requirements such as dirt resistance.

The Bolon Preferred Installer program
was rolled out in Sweden in 2011. The
program involves inviting the best, most
enthusiastic Installers to our company
headquarters where they can visit the
manufacturing floor and take part in
workshops and test installations. At
these meetings, Installers also have
the opportunity to exchange experiences
and receive up to the minute environ-
mental and technical information. As
a Preferred Installer in the Gothenburg
area of Sweden’s west coast, Marcus has
only positive words to say about working
with Bolon as a product and a company.
“The support we receive from Bolon can
only be described as world-class. As
well as the Preferred Installer meetings,
they are always available to answer our
queries and send out samples if we need
them. They are obviously a company that
strives to have satisfied customers – and
it shows in the service they provide.”
But as a material, what is it like to
work with Bolon, hands-on?
“First, Bolon is a robust material. At
the same time it’s flexible and easy to
install. It’s this combination that makes
our job much easier. Laying Bolon flooring
really is hassle-free and the finished
results always look first class. So for us,
it’s a great choice because we get a lot
of credit for the results without going
through complicated laying processes.
And of course, the client gets a great
looking finish and a top quality floor,
so everyone’s a winner.”
When you work with Interior Architects
is it easy to convince them that they
should use Bolon?
“Very often we’ll receive plans for a job
and straight away I can see that it has
the right characteristics to lay Bolon
flooring. When architects are looking
to create a special feeling in the rooms
they plan, Bolon’s depth, patterns and
3D structure effects give them the
freedom to do this.”
Are there any other Bolon characte-
ristics that your customers react
positively to?
“The fact that no harsh chemicals are
needed for cleaning is often mentioned.
For many Designers and Architects,
Bolon is a product that raises their
curiosity.
As a result, we take a lot of questions
about the flooring, its characteristics
and our experience of working with it.”
And what can you tell them?
“That Bolon is an ‘honest’ and ‘thankful’
flooring material to work with. That
laying it is simple and doing so will allow
both them and us to exceed customer
expectations – and last but not least,
that the designs and feeling the flooring
can create really are one of a kind.”
“Great results and simple to install – as
a flooring material Bolon is in a class
of its own.”
CARE+EASY INSTALLATION
The eyes of Bolon Preferred Installer Marcus Atterot light up when asked about how it is to work with Bolon flooring – “Every time we do an installation, the results are fantastic – and much of this is down to the fact that Bolon is such an easy product to work with.”

BOLON SILENCE MOTION
As a product, Bolon flooring is advanced. Its use of safe, modern PVC and the fact it is 100% recyclable and free from phthalates prove this. These characteristics are perhaps the reason behind two myths we would very much like to dispel – that Bolon flooring is difficult to maintain and that to do so requires special machinery and costly, time-consuming processes. Nothing could be further from the truth.
CARE+EXTRACTING MAXIMUM VALUE
SEPARATING FACT FROM FICTION
COMPARE PERIODIC MAINTENANCE COSTS
EVERYDAY CLEANING – Compared with its competitors,
cleaning and maintaining Bolon flooring is both simpler and
more cost effective. Although they are commonly used over
larger floor areas, machines are not an absolute necessity
when carrying out daily cleaning. Indeed, with a vacuum
cleaner, scrubbing brush and stain remover, the vast
majority of cleaning tasks are easily accomplished.
FROM A COST PERSPECTIVE – A joint study carried out
between Bolon and Kärcher, a world leading provider of
cleaning systems and products, has shown that contrary
to pre-conceived ideas, maintaining our flooring is con-
siderably cheaper per m2 compared with linoleum, textile
or wooden flooring. In the following table, you can see
how percentage-wise, Bolon cleaning costs rate against
its competitors.
Of course, over the lifetime of the flooring – and all
Bolon flooring comes with a 10 or 15-year guarantee
– the savings are potentially enormous, and will offset
any initial extra costs.
In plain terms, this means that the total of your initial
investment in Bolon and subsequent care and maintenance
will in most cases be significantly less than in other less
durable and less attractive solutions.

where the flooring will be used.
Ensure chair / table legs have feet,
no sharp edges and are made of
stainless steel, polythene or similar.
Avoid unnecessary wear and tear by
ensuring wheels are hard polyamide.
Never use acetone or polish on Bolon
flooring.
GENERAL ADVICE
For daily cleaning we recommend vacuum cleaning.
For wet cleaning, use a scrubbing
brush and dry the floor with a soft /
microfiber cloth.
GENERAL DAILY CLEANING
Start by vacuuming.
Remove any difficult stains, gum etc.
Use a scrubber dryer machine with
soft rollers, luke warm water and
alkaline, heavy-duty pH 9-11 cleaner.
Run the machine without vaccum.
Let the solution work for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse twice using the machine and
clean water.
PERIODIC CLEANING
Periodic cleaning should be carried out
regularly. (Traffic frequency dependent).
Start by vaccuming.
Use a scrubber dryer machine with
soft rollers, luke warm water and all-
purpose pH 7-8,5 cleaner.
DEEP CLEANING
Deep cleaning should be carried out when
flooring is extremely soiled – otherwise,
an interval of 1-2 years is recommended if
correct periodic cleaning is applied.

On average, over 13 000 passengers
pass through the airport every day
– that must make cleaning quite a task?
Oh yes. Our team works 24 hours a day
to make sure the airports public areas
are in top condition. Bolon flooring can
be found in both the domestic and inter-
national departure lounges, very often
where food and drink are consumed, so
these are obviously areas we focus on.
What are the daily cleaning routines
for Bolon flooring here?
Several times a day, we vacuum clean,
mop and if required, remove stains.
Scrubbing takes place at night when the
airport is very quiet. Taking care of these
tasks requires a vacuum cleaner, mop
and bucket and stain removal spray or in
the case of chewing gum, a freeze spray.
Sounds simple?
Yes, keeping it clean and fresh has been
quite straightforward. Also, our routines
are the same for both types of Bolon
flooring we have here, even though
one is more structured than the other.
This convenience is great for cleaning
efficiency.
How about machine cleaning – how
often does this take place?
Because of the high volume of people
passing through and the fact that many
people eat and drink here, we machine
clean fairly regularly. Two to three times
a week we use a single-brush hand-
driven cleaning machine followed by a
wet vacuum cleaner. It’s quite a simple
process really.
Talking about simplicity – how does
Bolon flooring rate when compared to
say wooden parquet flooring?
Wooden flooring requires several different
stages in its maintenance process
– vacuum cleaning, mopping, polishing
etc. Bolon flooring also has its routines
but I would say that keeping it clean is
generally less time-consuming – some-
thing my team here really appreciate.

The year was 1949 and Bolon founder Nils-Erik Eklund had the foresight and business acumen to see a great opportunity in the piles of textile waste being produced at a neighbouring factory in Stockholm, Sweden. From this waste, rag rugs were produced – and crucially, a commitment to think differently when it came to our products was born.
LEADING THE WAYToday, Bolon still leads the way in terms of environmental
innovation – or as we call it ‘greenovation’. Our vision for the
future of Bolon and holistic approach to developing products
across a long lifecycle are clearly defined in our two initiatives
‘A Future Without Footprints’ and ‘Bolon® Green’.
On a product level, Bolon continuously strives to exceed current
legislative requirements. We only use the latest and safest PVC
in our flooring – a material that is radically different from its
earliest forms – and we now use 100% phthalate free plasticiser.
CARE+A SUSTAINABLE CHOICE
Our environmental commitment naturally expresses itself in
our cleaning and maintenance processes. No harsh chemicals
are required for either mechanical or manual cleaning routines
– a fact that makes a major contribution to creating a healthier,
cleaner room environment.
CLEANING WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE
“VOC emissions from Bolon flooring are well below
recommended levels.”
