Concerto for Piano and Trumpet, full of prankish humor and a challenge to the traditional Russian work.

Concluding the program is Dvorak’s symphony inspired by the composer’s beloved Czech countryside.

ODE TO JOY APRIl 12, 2014Program: Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 “Choral”Four distinguished guest soloists, Central Michigan University Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, and the Center Stage Chorale and Camerata Singers join the orchestra to perform Beethoven’s masterpiece, considered by many to be the greatest piece of music ever written. An equally committed pianist and composer, Michael Brown’s unique artistry is reflected in his creative approach to programming. In this recital, he interweaves his own composition Folk Variations with contemporary works and the classics including Copland's Piano Variations and Beethoven's 15 Piano Variations and Fugue in E flat, Op. 35 "Eroica Variations.” Please note: The Orchestra does not perform during this recital.
