“BOFOSIJADA 2006“A report
“We got together again because wewished that”
“BOFOSIJADA 2006” held June 7-11 inGornji Milanovac. DDOR “Novi
Sad” – thegeneral winner and this time keeps atravelling cup for
ever. A presentation on theInternational financial
organizations’activities and global social dialogue washeld.
Organized also was a painters’ colony.Poetry evening panel was also
held.
“BOFOSIJADA” that encompassesdifferent sports, cultural and
social activitieswas organized by the Autonomous Union of
Employees in Banks, Insurance Companies and other
FinancialOrganizations June 7-11, 2006 in Donji Milanovac,
apicturesque small town at the banks of the Danube that is aborder
with Romania. Surrounded by hills covered with deepdense woods it
was a very suitable arena for the forthcomingsports competitions
between 400 eager participants fromVojvodjanska, Erste,Metals Bank
and DDOR “Novi Sad”.
Warmly welcomed guests were Piet Nelissen, a member ofthe Board
of the World Federation of Clerical Workers, 6colleagues from
Romanian Federation of Banks Employees and

the Trade Union of Financial Organizations of
Montenegro.Management members of banks and insurance companies
alsoattended the event. Competitors have demonstrated a high degree
ofmotivation and achieved exceptional sports results in
13disciplines both in male and female competitions. Theycompeted in
mini football, basketball, hand ball, volley ball,tennis, table
tennis, chess, billiard, darts, bowling, rope tag,shooting, and
cross country.

Proved to be good
The Organizing Committee took care that everything wentsmoothly
and consisted of the following colleagues: Mara
Erdelj, Pera Bozic, Vladislav Jevtovic, Ljubomir
Jovanovic,Svetlana Novakovic and Svetislav Cica. A Committee in
chargeof sports competitions was composed of Dragisa
Eremic,Slobodan Altman and Goran Karadzic.
Mara Erdelj, a President of theBOFOS, justifiably proud
withBOFOSIJADA sent a message to allparticipants:”A smile makes
usstronger than everybody else. Wegot together again because it
wasour common wish. I want us togrow further and become better
toeach other and to oneself.”

DDOR “Novi Sad” won a cup to keep itpermanently
The most successful team winners in mini football,basketball,
rope tag and female competitions in tennis, chessand table tennis
as well as in individual results was DDOR.
The third time in a row a winner DDOR has won a cup tokeep it
permanently. No less successful were competitors fromVojvodjanska,
Erste, Metals bank.
An educated negotiator required
Employees in banks andinsurance companies, unionmembers and
managers had theopportunity to listen to apresentation on world’s
andEuropean financial organizationsand
global social dialogue.An expert in these issues and
circumstances in Serbia, colleaguePiet Nelissen has effusively
spokeon negotiations at local, nationaland international level.
Said he:”Itis very important to develop anegotiating strategy. For
that, educated negotiators are neededwho know the other side well.
A synchronized action againsthomogenous financial block is
necessary.”

He added that an existence of a union is important for
anyemployer as a question of working conditions can be solved
innegotiations and not at random. Knowledge about activities ofthe
world financial organizations, mechanisms of the WorldBank, the
IMF, European Development Bank. the WTO is of anutmost importance
for employees in banks and financialorganizations. Needed are also
educated legal and economicexperts that can speak foreign languages
and will be able toutilize successfully these information.
More than a gamе
A colony of painters tookplace on a glade above the
eternalDanube. They set to their artists’brushes and tried to
depict thebeauties of the surroundings.
At the last day of theBOFOSIJADA an exhibition ofwatercolours,
paintings in oiland artistic photos wasopened. The authors
wereJanja Plavotic, JasnaKazimirovic-Gajic, ZoranMiljkovic and
Aleksandar Djurin-Sasa.
In the “Quiet salon” of the“Lepenski vir” hotel poetry
wasrecited and accompanied bypopular melodies played by
aguitar.

It was said about BOFOSIJADA

“I am fascinated by large participation ofyoung people. I think
this kind of events isvery important for strengthening of
solidarityand feeling of togetherness. At the same time,working
part that always accompanies thisgatherings or painters’ colony and
poetrypanel are important for unions membersbecause they offer them
an opportunity toexpress some other skills apart from everyday’s
work. BOFOSIJADA contributes to attraction of newmembers
particularly young ones who are chronically absent inunions
elsewhere in the world.
Romanian union’s representatives
We are all first time inSerbia. We come from sixdifferent cities
in Romania.Since there are 36 banks there,a competition is very
strong andemployees have to work veryhard. We have enjoyed
thesethree days of our stay verymuch and found new friends among
our Serbian colleagues.
In our country, we only succeeded to organize a smallmini
football tournament. All our compliments to BOFOSIJADAand its
organizers.

This is not my first BOFOSIJADA. I noticethat it goes on in a
very good mood ofeverybody, sports activities and socializing.
Italso offers an opportunity for relaxation fromevery day’s
concerns in these difficult times.

On a beautiful blue Danube
A boat cruise was organized for all participants of
theBOFOSIJADA as well as a visit to the worldwide
knownarcheological site Lepenski vir.
Together again
The grand final ofthe BOFOSIJADA wasa presentation ofcups,
medals andawards to those whocontributed to its goodorganization.
Thosewho had a birthdayreceived gifts andcongratulations.
TheBOFOSIJADA ended
with a magnificent party thatlasted till dawn.
