    OCTOBER

    FROM THE PASTORS DESK

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Membersand Friends of the Hill UnitedPresbyterian Church:

For over twelve years Hill Church hasoffered an alternative worship time onSaturday evening from 6:00 to 7:00p.m. Many and varied people tookadvantage of this service over the

    years.

In particular, over the past year, theattendance for this service hasdeclined to a small number of people. With that in mind, we will no longeroffer the Saturday evening worshipservice.

However, from time to time, there maybe a Saturday worship service availablewith a seasonal emphasis such as anEaster Saturday Vigil or a Music, Artand Drama Camp Service.

Of course, our Lords Day Worship

Service will continue at 10:30 a.m. eachSunday!

In the month of October we have our2014 Stewardship Emphasis coming up.

I will be preaching on the themes:Called To FollowChallenged toGrowSent to Serve.

See you in worship as we focus on ourStewardship Life together this month!

Grace to you and Peace in our

    Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

    Pastor Clark Sawyer

    GHANA MISSION TASK FORCE REPORT

We give thanks to God for the many contributions from various members, groups, and organizations of our congregation directly to the Ghanaian

Scholarship Fund. $4994 was transmitted to and received by the Bubiashie scholarshipcommittee on September 5, 2013. Thank you for your caring about these young Christian

    women.

As we look ahead, we continue to encourage each of you to plan a contribution in this nextyear. We also are considering cards or letters to be sent as Christmas greetings. That isnot finalized.

On September 6th, this message was received from Dr. Atakro:Thank you for this mail. I sent an immediate one only to be told it had a problem. We thankGod for protecting you all and being with Clark during his time of hospitalization. I hope he

is doing well.Peki is also fine. We are training 18 students to become pastors, 30 as Catechists, and 15music students. The secretary sends the monthly newsletter all the time. I read it all the time to keep meinformed about Butler. I cannot forget Butler, the Church and its people.Agnes will this year begin her Bachelor of Theology course at the Trinity College. Thethree boys are all in school at Legon, a university close to the Trinity College.

    Greetings to all,Koku.

Please keep the Bubiashie District churches, Bernard Daddy, chairperson of the Bubiashiescholarship committee, as well as the students in your prayers.

MISSION CO-WORKERSBARRY & SHELLY DAWSONWe trust that all of you found a good experience listening to the Dawsons speak of their past journey and theirfuture hope for Gods work in Southeast Asia. If so and especially if you are a young adult between the ages of 1and 30, then this paragraph is directed to you. This is a season of growth as you seek to find your lifes vocation.

What is God calling you to do or to be? Do you want to make a difference? What do you want to do and how wiyou do it? This is a time of exploration and seeking new adventures. Maybe you have finished college, but areyou on the right path? Do you think about what God may be calling you to do? Consider becoming a YoungAdult Volunteer. Enter into a year of service and you may find a lifetime of change. You may truly discoverwhere you should be and what you should do. Obviously some young adults have entered the ministry because othis experience, but others have found through volunteering that nursing is the path or being a doctor in ruralhealthcare is the thing, or becoming a lawyer working on behalf of immigrants, or working on environmentalissues. Service can be overseas or nationally. If unsure of where you are, pray until you feel that Jesus is sayingto you, follow me If this type of adventure sounds interesting, then contact Richard Williams [email protected] or online check out pcusa.org/yav.
