    5. let the engine run for at least five minutes to warmup. This is very important for the hydrostatic transmission. During very cold temperature conditions (O°F [-230 Cl) increase warmup time. If transmission warning light comes on when attempting to operate the Bobcat, more warmup time is needed. (To warmup the fluid faster, tilt the Bob-Tach back and continue holding heel of tilt pedal down to let oil go over relief pressure.)

    BOBCAT OPERATION

    Bucket Size

Use correct bucket size for the type material being handled for most efficient loader operation. Many types of buckets are available to fit the Bobcat loader; Use a digging bucket for digging and a light material bucket when handling light material (snow, litter, etc.).

Using an incorrect bucket size can result in the following problem:

    1. Difficult steering.

    2. Excessive tire wear.

    3. Unstable handling and operation.

    4. Shortened machine life.

    Installing Attachment

The Bob-Tach system is designed to enable fast changes of buckets or other attachments.

To install an attachment such as bucket:

    1. Pull up on Bob-Tach locking levers.

AWARNING The levers have spring tensionl Hold them firmly and release slowly I

    2. Tilt Bob-Tach forward and drive up to the bucket until the upper edge of the Bob-Tach is under the flange on bucket and centered on bucket mount (Fig. 16). Be careful not to damage the Bob-Tach levers.

    3. Raise the lift arms and tilt Bob-Tach back until bucket is lifted slightly off the ground. Stop the engine.

    4. Push down on the Bob-Tach locking levers until they are fully locked (Fig. 17). Check locking wedges and make sure that they extend through the slots il'! the attachment (Fig. 18).

    To Remove Attachment

    1.

    2.

    3.

lower lift arms fully down and tilt Bob-Tach ahead slightly so that edge just clears ground. Stop the engine.

    Pull Bob-Tach'locking levers up.

Start engine, tilt the Bob.Tach forward and back loader away from attachment.

  • LUBRICATION OF LOADER

To assure good performance lubricate the loader regularly as specified in the service schedule on page 11.

Figure 44 sho~s the location of grease fittings.

Always use a good quality lithium based, multi-purpose grease when lubricating the loader. Apply lubricant until excess shows.

Also occasionally lubricate the seat rails (Fig. 45) to maintain easy movement for seat adjustment.

    BOB-TACH

The Bob-Tach should be inspected regularly (See service schedule, page 11) for condition and wear.

The levers, when pushed down into "lock" position (Fig. 46, Item 1) must extend wedges far enough to engage the slots in the attachment (Fig. 47).

    Replace bent or broken wedges.

    PIVOT PINS

All pivot points (lift arm, Bob-Tach and cylinder) use large pins which are held in place by lockbolts (Fig. 48).

    Check lockbolt nuts for tightness.
