WHAT IS FOULING ?

◗ BARNACLESBarnacles and zebra mussels attach toboat bottoms to feed.

◗ WEEDWeed can stay attached to the hull.

◗ SLIMESlime produces a syrupy type medium inwhich algae settle.

Fouling varies based on:

3 Reasons to Prevent Fouling• Protect Hull• Safety of Craft• Speed & Efficiency

WHAT GOES INTOOUR ANTIFOULING?

• Biocide – Cuprous oxide and SCX™ - Slime Control Xtra™.

• Resin – Forms the coating film.• Solvent – Flow and drying speed.• Pigment – Color and thickness.

◗ The level of copper is a VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR ofhow antifouling paint will perform. This number isthe percentage of copper by weight contained inthe antifouling paint. The percentage of copperand the rate of release are very important onhow long the paint will last.

◗ Our ablative resin systems release copper biocideat a constant rate throughout its life, and theMORE AVAILABLE, the more to release.

W H I C H C O AT I N G SS H O U L D I U S E ?

◗ BOOSTED ABLATIVE ANTIFOULINGSAdded to our ablative antifoulings - SCX™ – SlimeControl Xtra™ to do its job exceptionally. SCX™ test-ing produced results 250 times more effective than withcopper alone.

EXAMPLESCOPPER PROTM SCX 67TM, COPPER GUARDTM

SCX 56TM, COPPER SHIELDTM SCX 45TM

◗ ABLATIVE ANTIFOULINGSWears down like a bar of soap at at a controlled rate, which results in always having fresh biocide at the sur-face of the paint. There is no build-up of coatings thatwill eventually have to be removed from the surface.

EXAMPLESCOPPER PRO 67TM, COPPER GUARD 56TM,COPPER SHIELD 45TM,AQUA SHIELDTM WATERBASE

◗ HARD ANTIFOULINGSBlue Water® does not sell these type of coatings, as wefeel that the advantages of being able to scrub thecoating are far OUTWEIGHED by the ablative technology, which releases biocide at a controlled rate, has multi-season performance, and no intense stripping of thecoating is needed.

◗ SCX™ - SLIME CONTROL XTRA™ is aantifouling technology that blocks slimegrowth for a fouling free boat bottom.

SCX™ – SLIME CONTROL XTRA™technology prevent algae and slime frombeing able to grow by acting like sunscreento block this process.Testing has shown anincrease of 250 times more effective thancopper alone.

◗ Cuprous Oxide is very effective at control-ling shell fouling such as barnacles,The useof SCX™ - Slime Control Xtra™ techno-logy blocks slime from forming on thebottom of your boat. Thus copper can do abetter job of keeping the shell fouling fromattaching to the surface.

◗ Gel coat blistering is caused by degeneration withina fiberglass laminate, and then water enters the hullthrough the gel coat. Blisters are created, absorbingwater like a sponge.

◗ Blisters vary from small pinheads to very largeblisters. The presence of any fluid behind a blisterindicates a potential problem.

◗ Fine cracks usually form due to severe flexing orimpact damage. Also fibers protrude through thegel coat.
