For business meetings, a boardroom or conference room needs two separate mixes: one for speech and the other for audiovisual presentations and video- conferencing. The DX810’s matrix mixing functions are perfect for this application. Wireless and/or po- dium microphones can be controlled and amplified separately from the stereo or multi-channel (5.1 for instance) format of the video presentation system, which could receive signal from a videoconferencing system, a VCR, a DVD or a computer. Controls can be either the DX-RVC and DX-SW4, or a Crestron or AMX remote control network. When the proceedings should be archived, audio can be recorded on ana- log or digital recorders. To reinforce the two systems in the room, we usu- ally install two speaker systems. The CIS300 small footprint “ceiling monitor” provides highly intel- ligible speech reinforcement, while the SMS5 sur- face mount speaker handles the stereo mix. If a 5.1 format is chosen we could use the VR62 for the main L/C/R channels, VR61 or SMS5’s for the surrounds and a VRS12 low-profile subwoofer. Any of these full range choices are small enough to blend in with any décor. The program mix speakers will be powered by CAZ amplifiers in “lo-Z” mode, while a CXA120 will drive the CIS300’s on a 70V line.
