MESSAGE FROM DEAN GLENN HUBBARD

Dear Members of the Columbia Business School Community:

Columbia Business School enjoys many assets, including the valuable expertise and wide-ranging business ties that our Board of Overseers brings to our community. This directory of our Board members attests to the School’s reach across business, government and the nonprofit sector.

More than a distinguished calling card for the School, the Board of Overseers is an active body that supports and extends our unique brand of education. Board members’ expertise and leadership ensure that our centers and institutes are more connected to industry. And their involvement with students in the classroom and other settings demonstrates how academic theories influence and come to life in the real world.

Under the leadership of cochairs Henry Kravis ’69 and Art Samberg ’67, our Board of Overseers works tirelessly to promote an environment in which faculty can advance the School’s thought leadership and where students and alumni can continue to lead and shape the world of business in times good and bad.

I invite you to get to know our Board members, whose leadership and stewardship exemplify the talent of our 37,000 alumni around the world.

Glenn Hubbard Dean and Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics

MESSAGE FROM COCHAIR HENRY R. KRAVIS

MESSAGE FROM COCHAIR ARTHUR J. SAMBERG

Dear Columbia Business School Community,

As cochair of Columbia Business School’s Board of Overseers, along with Art Samberg, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to the distinguished people who make up this group. We work closely with Dean Hubbard—both individually and collectively—to provide insight and creative feedback and to help guide the School in this exciting time of growth and development.

We come from diverse backgrounds and have achieved varying degrees of success in our respective fields. However, we are not content to rest on our laurels. On the contrary, we proudly embrace the integral roles we play in the life of the School as ambassadors, advocates, sponsors, lecturers, mentors and—perhaps most important—as leaders who, through our actions, set an example for the extended Columbia Business School community.

Many of the members of the Board of Overseers are alumni, and all of us continue to be inspired by the talent of the School’s students and faculty and their potential to effect positive change in the world. As we look to the future, I have no doubt that this potential will be fulfilled and that Columbia Business School will retain the position and esteem it has rightly earned at the forefront of graduate business education, aided of course by the dedication and support of my colleagues on the Board.

Sincerely yours,

Henry R. Kravis MBA ’69 Cochair, Columbia Business School Board of Overseers Founding Partner, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

Dear Friends of Columbia Business School,

I was truly honored to be invited, back in the fall of 2000, to join the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School. My experiences in life and in business up to that point had made me keenly aware of what an invaluable framework for success my Columbia MBA had provided me, and I wanted to give back. And so, as the School entered a new millennium, I accepted the invitation to become more involved.

It is now my distinct privilege to have been given an even greater leadership role as cochair of the Board at a time when the School is poised for the type of transformation that will enhance its formidable stature. Like all of my distinguished Board colleagues, I recognize the responsibility that we bear in sustaining the School’s commitment to the generation of ideas and the training of tomorrow’s leaders.

The Board of Overseers, together with the School’s extraordinary network of alumni and friends, works to uphold Columbia’s incomparable tradition of excellence in graduate business education, and I remain honored to be a part of it.

Sincerely,

Arthur J. Samberg MBA ’67 Cochair, Columbia Business School Board of Overseers Chairman and CEO, Pequot Capital Management, Inc.
