HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA

RULES RELATING TO HE REGISTRATION BY MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS AND DENTISTS

OF ADDITIONAL QUALiFICATIONS: AMENDMENT

The Health Professions 4ounciI of South Africa intends, in terms of section 35 and 61A(1)(1), read

with section 61A(2) of th$ Health Professions Act, 1974 (Act No. 56 of 1974), to make the rules in

the Schedule.

Interested persons are (invited to submit substantiated comments or representations on the

proposed rules to the Rdgistrar, P 0 Box 205, Pretoria, 0001 (for the attention of the Secretary:

Medical and Dental Profebsions Board), within one month of the date of publication of this notice.

SCHEDULE

1. In tnis Schedule, ~ ”the Act” means the Health Professions Act, 1974 (Act No. 56 of 1974),

and any expression to wh/ch a meaning hlas been assigned in the Act, shall bear such meaning.

2. The rules promul ated as Board Notice No. 35 on 31 March 1999 are hereby amended by 1 the addition in alphabetidal order under the appropriate grouping of the following qualifications

which may be registered bs additional qu~alifications in terms of section 35 of the Act by medical

practitioners:

(a) (0 b y the insertion under the heading “Examining Authority - Universities” bf the following IJniversity:

Free State, University of the (previously referred to as Orange Free

$tatel University of the).

(ii) $y noting that the qualifications previously awarded by and listed under

$e University of the Orange Free State, will in future be awarded by the

yniversity of the Free State and are, therefore, relisted under the

qniversity of the Free State.
