Hort & Design Study Group July 14 @ 7pm at Marty Cokin’s Residence: 11 Ocean View Drive Refreshments will be served. This meeting is informal and free of charge and all members are welcome.

Dianna will discuss how to correctly identify your Hort and describe it correctly on entry cards. She will have Splendor By The Sea entry cards and we encourage members to attend the horticultural meeting on 7/14 at Marty's to pick up cards and learn how to fill them out. Cathy will give you Entry numbers for the Dish Garden Club Project and will tell us how to list the cards properly for this entry. We are asking that the Club Project be pre-registered at this meeting. Cindi will talk to us about fascinators to be worn for the Membership cocktail hour – she is also available to consult if anyone needs help getting started or needs basic material. Dianna is happy to make house calls to help with Hort entries. Diane White will be making appointments with registered designers who would like some help or advice with their designs.

Submission of Exhibits – July 20, from 4pm to 7pm, and, July 21, from 8am- 9.30am (Please bring your Entries in through the garage. No late entries accepted and Exhibitors must leave the show floor before 9.30am on the 21st). Design Categories are now filled. Check July Entry sheets on our website for Hort Categories – Member section - http://shippanpointgardenclub.org/members - only/ (Member Password: Dahlia) Membership Meeting at Sue-Ann Friedman’s residence at 373 Stamford Ave Cocktails and Judging of Fascinators from 6pm to 7pm. Meeting and Dinner at 7pm Dinner reservations are made with your check for $20 dropped off to Kitty Sample by July 14. Thanks to the Dinner Committee Chairs Kitty and Sally Russell, and to our wonderful hostess SueAnn Friedman! This is our biggie, folks! A Small Standard Flower Show –Splendor By The Sea! The last SPGC Standard show was Sailing in September, held in Sept 2013. A core group of members have been working extremely hard to pull this off! Our grateful thanks go to the Flower Show Committee chaired by Maureen Carson. (See Committee list in your Show brochure.) We could use some more help with check in from 4-7 pm on 7/20 and 8-9:30am on 7/21, with staging set up on 7/20 from 12-4 pm, with greeting visitors when show is open on 7/21 from 1:30-4:30 and with clean up/return of props to storage space on Friday7/22 from 10-12 pm. Contact Maureen if you can help and please remind her if you have already signed up for something.

June SPGC Garden Tours This from Barbara LeCornec, “It was a perfect day for our annual garden tours. The weather cooperated, the lawns were lush and the roses were at their best. Absolutely an impeccable day enjoyed by all in attendance. At each home it was not easy to get out of my comfortable seat, surrounded by magnificent hort specimens to move to the next home. This feeling was repeated throughout the day and well worth it. Many thanks to our special, generous ladies: Ulli Delmar for organizing the tours and co-hosting, Ruth Maggio for her delicious breakfast, Diane Deegan for hosting the exceptional lunch and our garden hostesses: Rusty Ruth, Kim Pressler, Janet Thomas and Dianna Dwyer.”
