stAff rePOrts update Governor’s Proposed local control funding formula and cte Superintendent Hoffman gave a brief review of the Governor’s timeline for the budget. Traditionally, the Governor presents his preliminary state budget in January. The Governor’s May revision of the budget is pre-sented taking into consideration changes to the state’s economic situation included increases or decreases in revenues Superintendent Hoffman stated that currently the state’s revenues look much better than anticipated in January. Superintendent Hoffman stated that the Governor’s May revise included three lines that pertain specifi-cally to ROC/Ps: that direct funded ROC/P JPA’s would receive funding for two additional years. Superintendent Hoffman stated that while this reprieve is welcome news, there are still some uncertainties which linger. The pri-mary uncertainty for SoCal ROC is how much state revenue SoCal ROC will receive during these next two years. Superintendent Hoffman stated that the answer to this question should be forthcoming in the next few weeks and commented how successful the grassroots effort to save SoCal ROC has been. Superintendent Hoffman con-cluded with a thank you to the Board Members, staff, students, businesses, and communities for all their support and to local legislators Senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrance), Senator Roderick D. Wright (D-South Los Angeles), and Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) for all their work in Sacramento on SoCal ROC’s behalf.
