The most important motorcycle event of the year is underway: the 71st EICMA in Milan. In addition to the new roadster, the R nineT, and the escooter C evolution, BMW Motorrad will be presenting two world premieres at the world's biggest motorcycle trade fair. Conquer the Stage: the new S 1000 R takes to the limelight. With 118kW (160 bhp) and a powertoweight ratio of 1.75 kg/kW, this naked bike accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The BMW S 1000 R is the first roadster to be fitted with Race ABS and ASC as standard. More impressions per kilometre. The new R 1200 RT is the perfect combination of travel suitability, comfort and dynamic performance. Greater control, simple handling and optimum ergonomics enable gentle gliding on every tour. Back to Boxer: BMW Motorrad presented the R nineT to mark its 90th anniversary. The classic boxer with superb attention to detail and numerous customisation options is yet another star of the EICMA. A custom garage will be set up to demonstrate how the R nineT can be modified. Ride the Revolution: The C evolution is the first BMW Motorrad maxi scooter to be purely electrically powered perfect for conquering the streets of the big city. Futuristic in style and with zero emissions, the electrically powered maxi scooter sets the benchmark for electromobility on two wheels. Accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.7 seconds and with a range of 100 kilometres, the C evolution provides genuine, sustainable riding pleasure. Impressed. Everywhere. The new R 1200 GS Adventure takes the iconic travel enduro bike to the next stage of its evolution. The typical Adventure genes such as the robust side trim and the enlarged fuel tank make this GS the perfect companion for lengthy tours beyond civilisation. It goes without saying that every motorcyclist needs the right equipment. At the EICMA you can find out everything about the latest rider equipment products such as the new StreetGuard suit and other collection items. BMW Motorrad and Dainese have announced that they are to cooperate in a joint development of innovative motorcycle safety clothing for BMW Motorrad. Taking the Dainese DAir® Protect System as its starting point, the partners will be developing motorcycle rider equipment with fully integrated inflatable protectors for BMW Motorrad. The first product to emerge from the cooperation will be the DoubleR RaceAir onepiece leather suit with DAir® racing protectors, designed exclusively for use on racetracks. The racing suit is scheduled to be presented at the international EICMA motorcycle show in Milan this November, once BMW Motorrad has completed all the required testing in Munich.

BMW Motorrad and Dainese have announced that they are to cooperate in a joint development ofinnovative motorcycle safety clothing for BMW Motorrad. Taking the Dainese DAir® ProtectSystem as its starting point, the partners will be developing motorcycle rider equipment with fullyintegrated inflatable protectors for BMW Motorrad.

The first product to emerge from the cooperation will be the DoubleR RaceAir onepiece leathersuit with DAir® racing protectors, designed exclusively for use on racetracks. The racing suit isscheduled to be presented at the international EICMA motorcycle show in Milan this November,once BMW Motorrad has completed all the required testing in Munich.

The next stage will be to develop the Dainese DAir® Street System as a retrofit solution forBMW Motorrad. The system is scheduled to be launched in 2015, following successfulcompletion of all the crash tests. BMW Motorrad customers will then be able to retrofit aninnovative safety system to their motorcycles.

BMW Motorrad and Dainese are also looking into further ways of cooperating in the interest ofproviding further protection for motorcycle riders.

BMW Motorrad is the only motorcycle manufacturer to have developed the complete range ofrider equipment ever since the 1970s  from motorcycle helmets to rider suits, boots and gloves.In doing so, high priority is attached to maximum comfort for the rider as well as minimising thepotential consequences of accidents.

In addition to the NP protectors for motorcycle suits developed by BMW Motorrad as well assafetyoptimised boots and gloves, the Neck Brace System introduced in 2007 also contributesto the safety system.

The ABS pioneer BMW Motorrad has always regarded motorcycling and safety as beinginseparably linked and anchored in the "Safety 360°" principle. "Safety 360°" breaks down theoverall concept of safe motorcycling into three facets: safety technology in the vehicle, safetyderiving from rider equipment and safety through rider training.

Having maintained its leading role for decades when it comes to active and passive motorcyclingsafety, BMW is now extending this position further through its longterm collaboration withDainese.
