Into the FutureThe Club ride in August is being out together by Eric Horst and is set for August 25th. Stay tuned tothe website and your email for details. There will be no Club ride in September but October’s ride isan overnight to Fort Hunter Liggett being planned by our own Bob Kuykendall!.
We will have a lunch meeting at Peters Steakhouse in Rio Vista on September 8th. It is a nice ridethough the Delta and and Peter’s is a Club favorite. I wish I could ride with you, but the doctor saysno driving or riding until October.
As you already know the 2019 Beemer BASH is canceled. For those who still want the fun andincredible rides in Plumas County, you can still do so! The YOYO Rally is really happening anddetails can be found here. Just pay for your camping at the fairgrounds office when you arrive. Therestaurants in Quincy will gladly serve you food. You are On Your Own…with many others!
This year I have not been able to be as active as I planned or wanted. Work has made it impossibleto attend club lunches and now a knee replacement is keeping me hobbled. I will not be aroundmuch until October but I hope to be on the October ride and present at all activities going forward.
What I see we need to do as a club is to figure outwhat the future holds. I have been president in otherclubs before and always lived by the rule that morepeople can do more together and still work less. Fornext year I suggest we set all this straight. Plan allrides and meetings as soon as we can. Then we planthe BASH or no BASH, or do it in a totally differentway. Many of our members that have pulled weightcannot continue with it anymore. We need fresh bloodto take on the tasks and learn from those who havethe experience. The best way, as I see it, is to havesmall groups doing one task and when their task isdone, their work in the club is done for the year. Onesmall group to plan the rides for instance. One group to handle the BASH and Spring Fling. Smalltasks and when the task is done you are done.
We need your input for your Club!!
We’re posting all Club events on our MeetUp site, Facebook site, and the CCBR website so don’tsay you weren’t invited!!

Member Ride ReportBy Andy Aranyosi, Idleyle Park OR (near Crater Lake)
Hey guys,
I am that member in Oregon that you rarely (never?) see! I've sort of been busy beingunemployed at the moment. This did however give me the opportunity to take an 8000mile ride on my K1600GTL. Here are the notes from my ride.
Total miles: 8,062
Number of states: 16
Favorite: Colorado
Least Favorite: Missouri
Tire Changes: None (believe it or not!), running new Michelin PilotRoad 4’s.
Maintenance Performed: Oil/filter change; final drive oil change(great service @B. Rouge BMW!)
Best Ghost Town: Cairo, IL
Best Campsite: Tie between just W of Hall Creek Falls CG, AR (Ozark NF) and Elkmont,TN
Worst Campsite: Side of the road east of Gadsden, AL
Birdstrikes: 1
High Temp: 105F (Salt Lake desert)
Best Breakfast: Tie between Tall Town Bakery, Lakeview, OR and Cooky's Cafe, GoldenCity, MO (can you say "pie"?)

Day 1. Toketee Ranger Station OR to Bonneville Speedway, UT.Camped on the Salt Flats. Yes, you can do this! Recommended.
Day 2. Fort Collins, CO
Day 3. Layover at my son's place. Washed the Beemer.
Day 4. Backtrack to Meeker, CO. Visit old friends at Lost Creek guardstation.
Day 5-6. Grand Junction CO, replace headlight: Bulb $300, install $200.I'm now over budget-projected for the trip. Crap! Camped up on themesa 2 nights.
Day 7. Syracuse, KS. Camped at the county fair grounds after kickingtires with 3 Harley guys.
Day 8. Golden City, MO. Cooky's Cafe, for their pies! Camped in the town park.Recommended.
Day 9. Withrow Springs SP, Eureka, AR. Real showers!
Day 10. Hall Creek Falls, AR. Just west of the official campground is a narrow pull off onthe creek with your own private water fall. Just watch for poison ivy. Recommended.
Day 11. Mt. Magazine, AR, Cove Lake CG
Day 12. CCC cabin # 18, Winslow, AR. Devils Den SP has some of the best preservedstructures of the New Deal anywhere in the U.S. Recommended.
Day 13. Rocky Springs CG, Natchez Trace Pkwy, Utica, MS
Day 14-19: My dad's place, Albany, LA. Dad is an Army WWII vet who turned 94 while I wasthere. Cake & ice cream & lots of grumbling.
Day 20. Gadsden, AL
Day 21. Elkmont, TN. Was headed to the Dragon when I met a local rider who convincedme it was overrated (4th July weekend, LEO radar traps, lowered speed limit (was 55MPH; now 30!!!???), multi M/C fatalities each year, etc. etc. etc.). Anyway, I'd ridden it in '81before its fame. The alternate route he recommended was totally amazing... the ridefrom Tellico Plains TN to Robbinsville NC. Highly recommended.

Day 22. Layover in Townsend TN, way less touristy than the other towns and zero trafficjams. Fudge of course. Camped in Elkmont and swam in the river.
Day 23. Van Buran, MO, via Nashville-Paducah-Cairo. This may have been my longestday...but who's counting. Annoyed by local rednecks into the wee hours of the night in theForest Service campground east of Van Buran.
Day 24. Bunker Hill KS (I know...!) Camped at end of a dead end road leading to the damsite.
Day 25. Fort Collins, CO. Try Torchy's Tacos.
Day 26. Dinosaur National Monument, CO. Met a guy on a /5 from WI touring the countryand sleeping in a hammock most nights.
Day 27. Denio Junction, NV. Another side of the road camp.
Day 28. Home.
The ride was fantastic until the heat and humidity of AR, MS, LA, AL & GA set in. The wingson the GTL probably saved me. No over heat issues, though at 105F in UT the fan wouldnever shut off. Nearly ran out of fuel a few times, so I liked the fact the "Range in miles"adjusts itself "on the fly" when you let up on the throttle to cruise at the speed limit.
I know people “diss” KS, but I find the people there some the friendliest around, bar none.No performance awards the entire trip though I deserve a few. Now it's time to load thepack for a month on the PCT!
