Chapter Activities 2017
1. Conferences & Meetings
1.1. Co-organization of Saratov Fall
Meetings SFM-2017
(25-30 September 2017, Saratov,
Russia)
This year we for the first time collaborated with SSU Student
Chapter (Saratov, Russia) in organization of SFM-2017. We
invited Anna Yaroslavsky to the conference and we have
arranged a short course with this lecturer.

International Biomedical Summit
SIBS 2017
(16-20 June 2017, Moscow, Russia)
Students of our Chapter coordinated Students’ Poster Session as
a part of SIBS-2017.

in Optics + Photonics 2017
(6-10 August 2017, San Diego, USA)
Participation in conference and workshop.

Biomedical Optics 2017,
SPIE Optical Metrology 2017

2. Educational Programs
2.1. Summer School Lectures for new
BMSTU students
(19-20 August, 2017, Stupino, Russia)
This year we prepared lectures on optics, spectroscopy and
biomedical optics for enrolled students on Bauman Summer
School. The most interested and active students were
encouraged by gifts and invited to SPIE Student Chapter.
About 60 students visited the lectures.
2.2. Set of seminars on modern
problems of photonics and
condensed matter physics in BMSTU
(14-16 November, 2017, Moscow,
Russia)
We organized seminars on photonics, spectroscopy and optical
methods for studying condensed matter physics for BMSTU
students and staff.
About 50 students visited our seminars.
2.3. Monthly lectures by famous
researchers in BMSTU
Every month we arranging lectures on modern problems of
optics, photonics, materials, condensed matter physics and
other. This year we invited such lecturers as Prof. V.V. Tuchin
(via SPIE Visiting Lecturer program), Prof. V.V. Nesvizhevsky,
Prof. G.E. Fedorov, Dr. D.S. Ponomarev, Prof. V.N. Kurlov,
Dr. I.Yu. Eremchev.
Lectures are usually collect from 20 to 50 interested students.
Lecture of Prof V.P. Zharov was especially popular and collected
about 100 students.
3. Social Activity
3.1. Recruitment activity Recruitment activity was organized during the Summer School
for first course students in BMSTU.

1.1. Participation in organization of SFM-
2018 (September 2018, Saratov, Russia)
We are going to take part in organization of Saratov Fall
Meetings with our new friends from SSU Student Chapter.
1.2. Participation in SPIE Photonics Europe
2018 (22-26 April, Strasbourg, France)
Participation in conference and workshop.
1.3. Participation in SPIE Remote Sensing
2018 (10-13 September, Berlin, Germany)
Participation in conference and workshop.
2. Educational Programs
2.1. Monthly lectures on actual problems
of optics and photonics in BMSTU
We are going to continue our tradition of monthly lectures
from famous scientist in area of optics and photonics.
2.2. Course in BMSTU summer school for
freshmen students
(August 2018, Stupino, Russia)
Our Chapter is collaborating with Bauman Summer School
and organizing educational programs for freshmen
students.
2.3. Annual seminars on modern problems
of photonics and condensed matter
physics in BMSTU
(November 2018, Moscow, Russia)
We are going to invite famous researchers and specialists in
their field to give lectures in BMSTU. This projects is usually
co-sponsored by Russian Science Foundation.
3. Social Activity
3.1. Recruitment activity We are going to invite to BMSTU Student Chapter the most
active and interested students from Summer School in
BMSTU.
3.2. Popular lectures on Optics for
secondary school students
We are planning to organize lections and demonstrations
on basics of optics for students of Moscow secondary
school.
