    Your new collectionschedule begins

    January 1, 2013.

    Beginning January 1, 2013, you will be able to

    combine your food waste with your yard waste

    and divert even more from the landll! This will

    reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the

    Citys long term operating costs for disposal.

    You should have received a kitchen compost pail

    containing program information in November. If

    you have not received the pail or have questions

    about the new curbside collection program,

    please contact the Engineering Department at

    604-864-5514.

    Empty your kitchen pail on a regular

    basis and wash your kitchen pail after

    emptying.

    Line your kitchen pail with newspaper.

    Visit the CItys website at

    www.abbotsford.ca/curbsidecompost

    for directions to fold newspaper to

    t your pail.

    If you are concerned about odour,

    sprinkle baking soda in your compost

    container and kitchen pail or freeze

    ice cream pails of food scraps until your

    collection day.

    Place newspaper on the bottom of the

    compost container, to absorb moisture.

    Place yard waste at the bottom of the

    container so food waste doesnt stick to

    the bottom of the can.

    Avoid leaving food waste exposed to

    the open air.

    PLEASE REMEMBER:

    NO PLASTIC, METAL,

    GLASS, DIAPERS ORKITTY LITTER IN THE

    COMPOSTABLE WASTE

    CONTAINERS.!
