...that 63% ofresidential garbage

can actually be
composted?
Did youknow?
2013Curbside CollectionCalendar
Your new collectionschedule begins
January 1, 2013.
Beginning January 1, 2013, you will be able to
combine your food waste with your yard waste
and divert even more from the landll! This will
reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the
Citys long term operating costs for disposal.
You should have received a kitchen compost pail
containing program information in November. If
you have not received the pail or have questions
about the new curbside collection program,
please contact the Engineering Department at
604-864-5514.
Thank you for your commitment
to making Abbotsford a moresustainable city!

Empty your kitchen pail on a regular
basis and wash your kitchen pail after
emptying.
Line your kitchen pail with newspaper.
Visit the CItys website at
www.abbotsford.ca/curbsidecompost
for directions to fold newspaper to
t your pail.
If you are concerned about odour,
sprinkle baking soda in your compost
container and kitchen pail or freeze
ice cream pails of food scraps until your
collection day.
Place newspaper on the bottom of the
compost container, to absorb moisture.
Place yard waste at the bottom of the
container so food waste doesnt stick to
the bottom of the can.
