ROCK PORT R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT BREAKFAST MENU - APRIL 2015
Protein for Breakfast!
Your body doesn’t store protein so it is im-portant to include it in a healthy breakfast. It takes your body longer to digest protein, so it makes you feel full longer, and it has a more gradual effect on blood sug-ar. Protein is essential for growth & development of every part of your body. You can get protein from eggs, meat, milk, cheese & yogurt.

Nutritional Building Blocks ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants help protect your body from damage caused by “free radical” mole-cules. Some free radicals help you digest
food, and turn food into energy, but having too many causes damage to healthy cells, creating health problems including disease and aging. Excess free radicals can come from sun exposure, pollution, stress, and high-fat foods. You need enough antioxi-dants to stabilize all the extra free radicals in your body. Antioxidants come from vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables.

This year all juniors will take the ACT instead of End Of Course exams (EOCs) like they have done the past few years. This test is important now not only to help with college en-trance and scholarship awards, but also to show how well
school districts are educating their students.
The first tip for preparing is to take practice tests that simulate the actual test conditions. One should take a full-length test in a quiet environment. The test should also be under the certain amount of time. Score your test

Blue Jays of the Week
------------------------Tips to prepare for the ACT------------------------and read the explanations to each problem you miss. Identi-fy which area you are the weak-est in and study for that section. More practice will help one be better prepared for the test. Ac-cording to www.livescience.com, chewing the same gum while studying will help you re-member what you practiced.
Narrow your answer choices down to two if you do not know the answer. Even if your answer is a guess, answer all questions. Unlike the SAT, you do not lose a point for any missed ques-tions on the ACT. On average, students take more than one ACT. It is in one’s best interest to take more than one test. One can take as many ACT’s as he or she wishes.
Make sure to read all of the questions carefully. Rephrase questions into your own words to make sure you understand each question. Always go back to make sure you are marking
for the right question. Don’t spend too much time on any one question. If a question stumps you, circle it in your test book and move on. Go back to any circled questions after you are finished with your test.
The day you take your test should be stress-free and as calm as possible. Studies show chewing mint gum or sucking on mints will help keep you calm while you are taking your ACT. The night before you take your test, make sure to go to bed early. Getting enough sleep is key to help you do well on your ACT. Also eating a good break-fast will help you be well-pre-pared for your test. Your break-fast will help give you energy to stay concentrated for your test. The best breakfast to give you energy is eggs.
While you take your test, you want your mind to be focused on the test and not worried about other things. Make sure you know how to get to the testing location before the day of the test. Also make sure to dress in layers if it is cold. You can always take off a jacket to get comfortable. Bring a snack and a bottle of water for the break you will get during the test. You will also need to bring an approved calculator and #2 pencils. DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR PHOTO ID AND ADMISSION TICKET.
