Bloodlines - An exhibition across 3 generations - the psychology of the moon and survival An exhibition investigating myths and how they influence us today, their role in human survival, so that we exist, and not sink into apathy or neglect, so we live. In this body of work we are exploring myths and stories, through our shared and unique experiences. From these we are looking at the effects of nature vs nurture, and In particular we are looking at the moon; its mysterious powers: and how it affects our survival. The artworks we are working on are all responses to how myths of nature and nurture affect us today - and how far into our reality and our mindsets these myths permeate. The artworks are a creative and an intuitive exploration. We, the artists, are Jennifer Campbell - Smith, Louise Campbell Smith, Rowena Schmiga and Theresa Schmiga. Our individual lives and experiences, as well as our shared experiences, are reflected in our dealings with our chosen theme. We are working on a selection of works in response to this theme - seen through the eyes of sister, daughter, mother, grandmother. There will be four individual collections and three collaborative works. In the individual works we portray the way that the moon takes hold and influences us, like art- to create contemplation and dreams, and we ask the question how does the moon affect us? In these works we will question ways that we view mental health and address depression and existence - the human condition and how we can survive, using nature and the call of the moon. The three collaborative works will represent before, during and after, and will be about the way we each perceive the manner in which conditions can be created and built upon and the resolve that may or may not eventuate, their creative forces, their chaos or order, and how we might survive. We are truly excited about this project and are looking forward to creating collaborative pieces and creating new works for this exhibition. The finished collection will show- the effects of the moon on us physically and emotionally the vulnerability of human mind and mood, the effect of nature on our decision making, myths of nature and how they influence us today, how to survive in the darkest hours --

Bloodlines - An exhibition across 3 generations - the psychology of the moon and survival

An exhibition investigating myths and how they influence us today, their role in human survival, so that we exist, and not sink into apathy or neglect, so we live.

In these works we will question ways that we view mental health and address depression andexistence - the human condition and how we can survive, using nature and the call of the moon.

The finished collection will show-

the effects of the moon on us physically and emotionallythe vulnerability of human mind and mood, the effect of nature on our decision making, myths of nature and how they influence us today, how to survive in the darkest hours
