I can write Cartoon speech bubbles. Task: Make 2 sets of flashcards and play Snap remembering to read the words aloud as you turn each one over. Task: Have someone make a treasure hunt around your garden with the words on them. Task: Make up silly sentences with your words. Say them aloud and write them down Task: Complete the “ow” multi skill activity. Task: Complete the ‘ow’ activity sheet. Task: Complete the ‘ou’ and ‘ow’ activity sheet. Task: Complete ‘ow’ activity Cow. Challenge: How many more words can you write that have ‘ow’ in them. Task: Using ‘Do you see them? sheet Spelling: ‘buy’ is a tricky word so we are going to to try to remember how to spell it using letter names. Using your finger practise writing ‘buy’ in the air or on someone’s back. Write ‘buy’ 3 times in the spelling box. Spelling: ‘there’ is a tricky word so we are going to try to remember how to spell it using letter names. Using your finger practise writing ‘there’ in the air or on someone’s back. Write ‘there’ 3 times in the spelling box. Phonics: Robot speak the word: b/oy. Then blend the phonemes to make the word. Write the word in phoneme frame in phonics box and then twice underneath. You are going to write speech bubbles for a comic, telling the story of Sir Bold. You will not need to put speech marks around the spoken words as they are going in a speech bubble. Sir Bold wants to buy a castle but his servant Hal says the castle has ghosts. Look at the pictures. Is Hal right? Are there ghosts in the castle? Look at Sir Bold’s first speech bubble. Remember that he wants to buy the castle. What might Sir Bold say? Write in first bubble: I want to buy this castle. Write want in the ‘Have a go’ box. Look at the 2 nd picture. Remember Hal has seen ghosts but Sir Bold hasn’t. Do you think Hal will tell Sir Bold to buy the castle? Write your next sentence in the second speech bubble: But there are ghosts in it. Reread the comic strip so far and then you are going to write Sir Bold’s reply in the last speech bubble: You silly boy! There are no ghosts here. Read the dialogue with someone with expression. Do you think Hal is being silly? Who is being silly? How well do you think you did? Colour in a thumb and share the joke!

Sit the group in a circleAsk everyone to think of something that they like to do.Then pick someone to start by telling the group for example I like to swim.The person to their right will then tell the group what the first person liked and adding what they like to do, for example Fred likes to swim, I like to walk.This continues right around the circle until the last person has to say what everyone likes to do.

Brain Yoga

Take your left hand, make a fist, and extend your thumb; holding this, do the same with your right, only extend your little finger. Now change them so it’s left little finger and right thumb. The co-ordination involved will strengthen neural connections, which will help develop the memory!
