We are learning to read for information using Non Fiction.

We are learning to use the spelling rule ‘kn’

We are learning to add the suffix ‘ful’ to make an adjective.

We are learning to write facts about a famous house using our research skills.

A suffix is letters added onto the end of a root word. There are many different suffixes with different purposes e.g. ful = careful, ness = fairness, less = endless, est = longest

We are looking at using the suffix ful to change a verb (doing word) into an adjective (describing word).

NumeracyCore Learning Mental Arithmetic ICT

We are learning to count in tens and complete a sequence of numbers. We are learning to place a two digit number accurately between tens on number line.We are learning to round a number to the nearest ten.

We are using our knowledge of counting in tens to solve problems and round to the nearest ten.

We are learning to research for information about a famous home using websites.

1. Counting in Tens Practise counting in tens

forwards and backwards to 100 (and beyond) from any 2 digit number e.g. 26 -36 -46 etc. Remember that the units digit does not

change

2 .Using a 100 Number SquareCall out any number 2 digit number to 100 and point to it as quickly as you can on the 100 number square. Try to think about which tens it lies between when finding it.Jungle Challenge- Try this on a blank 100 number square remembering it is in rows of tens.See attached 100 number square3. Rounding to the Nearest TenWatch the video clip to help you learn how to round to the nearest 10https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMdck80SHnwRemember each step

find the tens that are on each side of the number use your 100 number square to help you or draw a number line

place the number between each ten look at it carefully. Is it above or below half way if it’s above (5 or more) round up to the nearest

ten if it’s below round down to the nearest ten

4. Activities Write some 2 digit numbers and put them in a

pile. Using chalk draw a number line outside and place

the correct tens on each side. Write the number on the correct place on the number line(as seen on the clip.)You can do this on a whiteboard or even just on paper to practise.

Mental – Counting in 10’s and RoundingThis is a mental task; an adult at home should read out these questions, children should not see the questions. Answers should be written in your jotter. If you have a number square at home, you may use it to help you work out the answer.Remember, when adding or subtracting multiples of ten and finding more or less than in multiples of ten, if you can not find 20 more of take away 30 then do it in blocks of ten. For example, 20 is 2 blocks of 10 so 20 more than 50 is 10 more than 50 = 60 then another 10 more = 70. 30 is 3 blocks of 10 so 86 take away 30 is 86 – 10 = 76 – 10 = 66 – 10 = 56.
