As followers of Christ, we must all heed the plea of St. Paul: “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be trans-formed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and per-fect” (Rom 12:2). This is not easy for anyone, but it is espe-cially challenging for Catholics in public life, whose careers depend in large part on popularity. I want to express pro-found gratitude to Catholics in public life who labor to pro-tect the human dignity of each and every person, especial-ly of the defenseless unborn. This effort requires great courage in our culture, and you are a source of inspiration and pride to your fellow Catholics. With regard to Catholics in public life who participate in abortion or seek to advance it through legislation or advo-cacy, precisely because these are actions of which many people are aware, it introduces another consideration: scandal. T H F It's Easy to Volunteer! Have you ever wanted to assist at the festival, but you didn't have the time or energy to physically help? Here's a way you can volunteer and help out. In the boxes where the bulletins are, you will ind envelopes. They have the cost of items we rent that are needed for the festival. If you want to "volunteer' to help cover the cost of rented items, simply take an envelope, make your donation and drop it in the collection basket or take to the Recto-ry. If you want to make a general donation rather than donating towards a speci ic item, you are wel-come to do so. Although you won't be able to physically help out, by "volunteering" with a donation envelope, you will be helping out in a big way and help make the festival a success. The Harvest Festival will be on Friday, October 1, & Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 6:00pm - 10:00pm.

O si desea puede hacer una donacion general en lugar de donar para algun articulo especı ico. Aunque usted no estara ayudando fısicamente, por ser "voluntario" con sobres, usted estara ayudando de una gran manera para que el festival sea un gran exito. Como seguidores de Cristo, todos debemos pre-star atencion a la suplica de san Pablo: “No sigan la corriente del mundo en que vivimos, sino mas bien transformense a partir de una renovacion interi-or. Ası sabran distinguir cual es la voluntad de Dios, lo que es bueno, lo que le agrada, lo que es perfec-to” (Rom 12:2). Esto no es facil para nadie, pero es especialmente desa iante para los catolicos con llegada al publico, cuyas carreras dependen en gran parte de la popularidad. Quiero expresar mi profunda gratitud a los catolicos que son iguras publicas que trabajan para proteger la dignidad humana de todas y cada una de las personas, especialmente de los no nacidos indefensos. Este esfuerzo requiere un gran coraje en nuestra cultura y ustedes son una fuente de inspiracion y orgullo para sus companeros catoli-cos. Con respecto a los catolicos que se desempenan en la vida publica y participan en el aborto o bus-can promoverlo a traves de la legislacion o la de-ienden, precisamente porque estas son acciones de las cuales muchas personas son conscientes, se intro-duce otra consideracion: el escandalo. El Catecismode la Iglesia Católica de ine el escándalo como“una actitud o comportamiento que induce a otro ahacer elmal” (CICn.2284).Las igurasprominentesen la sociedad ayudan amoldear las costumbres dela misma y en nuestra cultura su defensa del abor-tode initivamenteinduceaotrosahacerelmal.Estodebeserdeclaradoconclaridad:cualquieraque traba-je activamente para promover el aborto comparte una porcion de la culpa por los abortos realizados debido a sus acciones.
