our community, the Diocese and the world at large, especially the poor.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK

In the second reading today, St. Paul reminds the Colossians that they have been raised

with Christ, exhorting them to “think about the things above rather than things of earth.”

We, too, have been raised with Christ. Let us rejoice and be glad!

WORD OF LIFE

“Those who die in God’s grace and friendship

live forever with Christ. Heaven is not an

abstract idea, but a true and lasting relationship

with God that is beyond all earthly description

and understanding. We look forward to the

resurrection of the dead and everlasting life by

preparing now, in hope, for our passage from

this life into eternal life.”

He is risen! He is truly risen! This is what the celebration of Easter is all about — the truth that Jesus was crucified for our sins and three days later rose from the dead, conquering death once and for all. We know it’s true, but this Easter Sunday, let’s ask ourselves if we live as if it’s true. Do we live as witnesses to the glorious reality of the Resurrection? A witness, of course, is one with first-hand knowledge. Our readings today focus not only on the Resurrection itself, but also on those who were witnesses to it. In the Gospel, St.John describes the very first witnesses to the empty tomb, Mary Magdalene, John (“the disciple whom Jesus loved”), and Peter. Each had an individual “experience” of the empty tomb. Each went up close to see for themselves what Jesus’ love had accomplished. How can we as Christian stewards all these years later see for ourselves and so become His witnesses? We “see for ourselves” when we prayerfully read the Scriptures knowing they are a living love letter from God with a message to each one of us. We “see for ourselves” each time we receive the precious Body and Blood of our Lord in the Eucharist. We “see for ourselves” when we experience His personal and healing power in our hearts during Reconciliation. We “see for ourselves” when we pour out our lives in loving service to those around us and experience the deep satisfaction that only comes when we are imitating our Savior. This Easter, resolve to live as if the saving power of the Resurrection is true. Experience Jesus for yourself every day from now on. You will be a powerful witness to the truth that He is risen! He is truly risen!

LEAVING A LEGACY

The good we do lives on after us – if we

have the foresight to make a will! An

up-to-date will is the best way to provide

for those we love and to continue our

support of the good works at Blessed

Trinity Parish.

Pope Quote

St. John Paul II, in 1979, in an audience with Cardinal Suenens and the International Charismatic Renewal Office, stated "...This is my first meeting with you, Catholic charismatics . . . I have always

belonged to this renewal in the Holy Spirit. . . . I am convinced that this movement is a sign of his

action. The world is much in need of this action. . . . Through this action, the Holy Spirit comes to the

human spirit, and from this moment we begin to live again, to find our very selves, to find our

identity, our total humanity. Consequently, I am convinced that this movement is a very important

component in the total renewal of the church, in this spiritual renewal of the church."

Come visit BT’s charismatic prayer meeting on

Thursdays in the Elder Care center, 7-8:30pm. Call Richard or Katy for details, 307-9009.

The Saving Power of Divine Mercy

Pope John Paul II said that Divine Mercy is THE message for the third millennium and God's gift to our time. There is nothing that mankind needs more than Christ's Divine Mercy. To help us

avail ourselves of that loving mercy, Fr. Brooks focuses on what we know of God's Mercy, our response to His Love, how we can become merciful to others, and how to become apostles of mercy.
