Dear Parishioners, On the second Sunday of Lent, Jesus said to Peter, James, and John, “do not be afraid” after the three Apostles witnessed the gloried Christ. With the outbreak of COVID-19, we hear more and more references to World War II and its impact it had on day-to-day life on the majority of American’s. As we alter our daily routines with COVID-19, we are challenged not to be afraid as we encounter this modern-day plague that has wreaked havoc on millions of lives. Your Church, your parish wishes to provide for your spiritual nourishment, despite the Eucharist Fast. Ideally, a fast can teach us how to value, even more, those things that we treasure and that give us life. Through at least April 2, all parish Masses and Friday Stations of the Cross are canceled. During that time, Fr. Luke and I will celebrate private Mass for the intentions of the canceled Masses. Please read the following schedule adjustments that are taking place in our parish and throughout the Diocese of Metuchen. During this period, Confessions will be heard on Saturday mornings at 11 am. The Church will remain open with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament every day, starting March 18th through April 3rd from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a Holy Hour each Wednesday, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm until April 1st You can sign up online for Adoration. I have included a link to the message from Bishop Checchio and the live streaming daily private Mass at our Cathedral of St. Francis. These days especially let us earnestly pray with and for one another. Fr. Brian

COVID-19: Pope offers prayer to Virgin Mary
for protection
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
March 22, 2020 - 4th Sunday of Lent
“Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
How o en do we invest our me, talent and treasure in crea ng an appearance that does not ma er at all to God? We strive to impress with our clothing, home, career, possessions, car and other marks of dis nc on. But none of these illusions of greatness will impress God. Instead, He will look into our hearts to see how much we loved Him, how much we loved others and how we showed that love by the way we used our me, talent and treasure here on earth.
T A I Z E P R A Y E R I S C AN CE LLED FOR T HE REMAINDER OF LENT. Thank you to those who attended and we hope to continue during the next Lenten Season.
Monday April 6th at 4:00 pm Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi
Bishop Checcio will celebrate the Chrism Mass with the priests of the Diocese. At this mass, the Bishop will bless and consecrate the Holy Oils which each parish receives for the rites of anointing.
October 17th, 2020
Bishop Checchio will lead a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C. Look for additional information in the upcoming months. It will be a spiritually uplifting day!
PARISH PRAYER BOOK OF INTENTIONS
In our Parish Prayer Book, we pray for the sick, needy, struggling, suffering, etc. Every intention in our hearts! No intention is too big or too small for prayer!
St. Paul reminds us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ─Philippians 4:6-7
PRAY FOR OUR MILITARY
