A letter from the Pastor My dear People at Blessed Seelos Parish:
The Kingdom of God is an invitation and not a done deal! That means that the reading for today remind us that we have been invited to be part of God’s plan, but even when we respond positively, we cannot assume that all is fine with us. Christianity is not a faith of complacency. It could be said that as Christians we are always in the process of fulfilling our destiny. The moment we say that we are through growing as a Christian, we are literally through! Jesus tells us in the parable of the wedding feast in the Gospel today that God is constantly inviting to be part of the banquet. Not everyone accepts the invitation. But even at the end, if we accept the invitation, we need to make sure we have accepted the Kingdom in God’s terms and not in our terms. The person who was found at the banquet without the proper vestment was thrown out from the banquet. Therefore, this cannot be an image of Heaven. One cannot be thrown out of Heaven! This parable is an image of our preparation for Heaven. We must prepare relying on the Word of God, on making a difference in others’ lives by the way we live, and contributing to the work for the Kingdom by our ministry in the Church. There is no other way to prepare in order to have the proper garment to enter Heaven. Fr./P. José Ignacio
