In reflecting deeper, the banquet referred to by Jesus is eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is saying that while God our Father has opened wide the doors of heaven and invited everybody into his kingdom, entrance is by no means automatic and should not be taken for granted. While it is very clear that God is longing for our homecoming into his kingdom, the one thing necessary is to make sure that we will arrive safely by responding to his love. We are never nearer that love than when we come to Mass to receive the Body of Christ in holy communion and when in our daily lives we avail of the opportunities of sharing in Christ’s life. Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, as we remember all the graces that God has given us, you and your loved ones will be in my prayers and in my Mass. I am greatly thankful for your witness in your families, among your friends, bubbles, cohorts, circles and all other important relations in our parish community as well. Your silent, heroic and persevering witness inspires me. This year is going to be special since gathering is limited but let us give thanks to God in the midst of this pandemic that He has been with us. Although we have experienced many losses, Christ is with us and He is walking with us in these difficult times. Thank you for your generosity, as always, for your continued support of our parish through your Sunday envelopes for the past seven months. Even though many of our parishioners have not yet felt comfortable to return to Sunday Mass many have continued contributing by dropping off their donations at the church, in the Rectory, through regular mail and through on-line giving on our parish website. If you have not been able to contribute we welcome any “catch-up” offering you wish to make. Your offering and support are very much needed at this time and much appreciated too. Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day! Fr. Rey
