The European influence is stronger than ever in 2010. This spring, at design

shows across the country, BLANCO unveiled innovative new sinks and faucets

with a decided European flair. Featured on our cover is the new CRYSTALLINE

MicroEdge™ glass and stainless steel sink. Available in black or white, the

innovative glass sink cutting board can be placed over the sink for more

counter space. Its compact European

size makes it ideal for smaller urban

kitchens. CRYSTALLINE sinks

also feature BLANCO’s exclusive

MicroEdge™ rim. This year BLANCO

adds more MicroEdge™ models,

including the RONIS round sink

and a newly designed AXIS II 6S.

Both models come with custom accessories. Another strong European trend

this year is the return of the drainboard sink. These sinks extend your working

space with an integrated drainboard that allows you to defrost, drain or

prepare foods on a hygienic surface and protect your countertop. BLANCO

introduces new STEELART RADIUS 10 drainboards and new SILGRANIT®

drainboard models this year. Scratch-proof SILGRANIT® drainboards can also

be used to slice or chop foods. You will also see an expanded range of

SILGRANIT® sinks in Biscotti and new matching two-toned SILGRANIT®

The best time to selecta sink and faucetIf replacing an existing sink, there will be limitations based on the existingsink cutout and cabinet space on what can be selected. The ideal time toselect a sink is before the start of any kitchen renovation—before layoutdesign, counter or cabinet selection. Designers often place the sink firstand design the rest of the kitchen layout from there. This ensures that thecompleted kitchen has the optimal workstation and functionality—withenough room and the right sink and faucet to suit your needs. As faucetsare increasingly becoming one of the key design elements in the kitchen,this pre-planning will ensure that there are plenty of options for selectinga faucet that will fit and suit the layout.

Counter and cabinet sizeguidelinesWhen replacing a sink, the sink choice is restricted by the size of thecabinet and countertop. You can either choose a sink that fits into theexisting sink cutout or if your sink base cabinet allows, expand the cutoutby cutting away additional countertop material and select a larger sink.

Measuring correctly will help save time. Measure the cabinet size underthe existing sink or where the new sink will go. Measure from gable togable (left to right) See Diagram A. Be sure to measure from outside edgeto outside edge. This is the MINIMUM CABINET SIZE and this size isnoted next to each sink model in the BLANCO catalogue.

Most kitchen cabinets are standard 24" measurement front to back.The width (front to back measurement) of the sink that can be used isdetermined by this measurement and whether or not the counter tophas a backsplash. See diagrams B and C.

For Drop-in:If the countertop has a backsplash, a sink with front to back depth ofup to 20 1⁄2" will fit. See Diagram B. If the countertop has no backsplashand the cabinet is of standard size, a sink that measures up to 22" deep(front to back) will fit. See Diagram C.

For Undermount:Consult your installer. These measurements are important to ensure thatenough space is allocated for fixtures and backsplash material behind the sink.

Bowl design and functionality

BLANCO bowl design offers maximum functionality and aesthetics.Tight radius corners give more usable bowl capacity while offering anultra-contemporary look. Rear-positioned drains maximize usable cabinetspace under the sink. A flat sink bottom allows glassware and gobletsto stand up preventing accidental breakage. And, deeper bowls combinedwith tight radius corners, allow large pots and even frying pans to sitflat in the sink, making cleanup easier.

The broad range of BLANCO sink bowl choices within any one design,allows you to select a perfectly matching secondary sink for use in anisland. These choices include a wide range of double bowl options andsmall and large single bowl designs. For many kitchens, a large singlebowl may be ideal as a primary sink, particularly when most small itemsare washed in the dishwasher and the sink is used primarily for largepots, cookie sheets and pans.

Choice of materialIn choosing a material you should keep in mind that the kitchen sinkis a heavy-duty utensil. It will show signs of wear after a time, but shouldbe able to withstand the rigors of daily use for a very long time. Differentmaterials will wear in different ways. BLANCO uses only premiummaterials and offers a lifetime limited warranty on all its kitchen sinks,regardless of the material. Accessories such as sink grids are idealto protect the bottom surface of the sink. Owners should observecare instructions and use only recommended cleaning products.(See Sink Care and Maintenance on page 132).

Stainless SteelStainless steel continues to be the most common material for kitchensinks, but not all stainless steel sinks are created equal. Chrome-nickelcontent is an important consideration. Chrome increases hardnessand wear resistance. Nickel increases strength and improves shockresistance. Most BLANCO sinks are 18% chrome and 10% nickel(18/10), which is the preferred content for high-end stainless steelsinks. 18/10 stainless steel is completely hygienic, will not rust andwill maintain its appearance much longer than lesser grade steel.

The gauge (thickness) of the steel is also an important feature.Note: Gauge is an inverse measurement—20 gauge is thinner than18 gauge. A thicker gauge stainless steel sink will maintain watertemperature longer and has more sound deadening qualities.Thicker gauge stainless steel sinks are generally more expensive.

SILGRANIT®

There are a wide range of coloured sinks available today, however notall share the heat and scratch resistance of SILGRANIT®. There are alsoboth soft composites and hard composites available. These come in avariety of finishes, some having only surface colour, some coloured allthe way through. Many soft composites have a dull finish. These softcomposites are usually more porous and have a low heat rating (a hotpot could burn the surface). Soft composites are usually less expensivebut also tend to show signs of wear soon after being installed. BLANCOSILGRANIT® is a rock-hard composite material, formed using 80% puregranite. Coloured all the way through, SILGRANIT® is extremely scratchand chip resistant and has a heat rating of up to 280° Celsius.

Most BLANCO SILGRANIT® sinks are equipped with additional knock-outholes for faucet fixtures and accessories. These holes are marked onthe sink deck with removable stickers and must be punched prior toinstalling the sink.

Flushmount installation:A flushmounted sink sits in a recessed area cutout of the counter and requires special toolsand skills to install. Consult a stone specialistbefore specifying.

Topmount installation:MicroEdge™ creates the illusion of aflushmount sink installation without the useof complex fabrication methods.

MicroEdge™ options:

Partial reveal of the sink rim:The amount of reveal is flexible—moreor less depending on the look that isdesired! Deciding on your preferred lookmust be done prior to cutout of countertop.

Countertop flush with sink bowls:No reveal or very little of the sink rimis visible.

Countertop slightly overhangingthe bowls: No sink rim is visible as it ishidden under the counter edge.

Undermount options:

Considerations whenundermounting a sinkUndermounted sinks bring a touch of refinement to any kitchen.A pleasure to own, especially at clean-up time, their design allowscrumbs to be easily swept into the bowl. Truly a clean design.

Three undermount installation options are possible depending onindividual preference. These options apply to both stainless steelundermounts and SILGRANIT®. Note that BLANCO templates for mostundermount sinks provide a 1⁄4 inch reveal around the bowl(i.e. only 1/4 inch of the sink rim is revealed).

Check the instructions on the template that comes with your BLANCOsink to see the reveal measurement allotted by that template.

Sink templates are supplied only as a guide. The physical use of thesink will ensure a more accurate cutout.

Finally, ensure that enough space is left behind the sink for any fixturesthat may be required—including faucet and other accessories.

Considerations wheninstalling a MicroEdge™ sinkThe understated beauty and sleek elegance of a flushmount lookoffers refined sophistication to any kitchen décor. While trueflushmount installation requires expensive and challenging countercutting techniques as well as experienced and highly skilled installersto achieve an exacting flushmount result, MicroEdge™ overcomesthese risks, creating the perfect edge. MicroEdge™ sinks also offerunprecendented versatility. They can be installed flushmounted to thecounter if preferred and where experienced installers are available,or can sit on top of the counter similar to a traditional topmount style.A topmount installation allows the sink to be installed on virtually anycountertop material and with none of the risks of flushmount fabricationefforts. From granite and quartz to laminates and many other materials,the MicroEdge™ is simple to install.

BLANCO FLOWThe MicroEdge™ FLOW requires a 24" sink base cabinet, however,installation will require notching the gables of cabinets on either sideof the sink base to accommodate the drainer boards and clampingsystem under the sink. Please consult your cabinet manufacturerand/or cabinet installer for limitations.

General sink careKeep the sink dry. Regularly rinse and towel dry your sink with a soft,dry cloth when not in use to keep it dry. This will prevent surface depositsand water spots caused by lime in the water.

Use non-abrasive cleansers. BLANCOCLEAN is a combined cleanerand polish and will help maintain the original lustre of the sink, howeverthere are other non-abrasive liquid cream cleaners that can be used.Do not use strong abrasive cleansers or cleansers that contain chlorine(usually sodium hypochlorite) or hydrochloric acid, steel wool or metalscrub pads— these will scratch and dull the surface of the sink.

Rinse away cleansers after use and wipe the sink dry again to preventwater spots from forming.

Do not pour paint into your sink. The chemicals in acrylic paint willreact with SILGRANIT® sinks if allowed to sit over 24 hours and will producepermanent marks. For latex-based paints, try removing any residueimmediately using a paint remover manufactured by the same brand.Consult the paint remover recommendations before using on any sink.For all BLANCO sinks, we also recommend nail polish remover, rubbingalcohol or an acetone-based paint remover to eliminate paint residue.

Use vinegar and water in a mild solution to remove any mineraldeposits that may have built up.

Follow the grain of the steel if using a stainless steel polish.When using a stainless steel polish, ensure that you read directionscarefully. You should use a damp cloth and follow the grain of the steelwhen polishing. Rinse with water and buff with a soft, static-proof clothfor best results. For extra care, test on a small area first.

Do not drop sharp objects into your sink and do not use your sinksurface as a cutting board as this may scratch or damage the sink.Materials that are harder than stainless steel can scratch, includingstone, diamond, glass, ceramic or abrasives.

Use a sink bottom grid to protect your sink. BLANCO custom-sizedstainless steel grids are available that fit inside the bottom of the sinkbowls and protect the sink from scratches that could be caused bysharp utensils or other kitchen tools.

Rust spots and stains can be removed with metal cleaners such as Flitz®.Stainless steel does not rust, however rust stains may occur as a result ofother materials coming in contact with the sink allowing iron particles tobond to the sink surface. Iron particles introduced by metal cookware,steel wool pads, etc. that react with water can deposit rust spots.

Do not use rubber-coated mats as discoloration of the sink may occurafter prolonged use. Similarly, any wet sponges or cleaning materials lefton the sink for long periods could stain the sink surface.

Additional care tipsfor SILGRANIT® sinksUse liquid cleaners and rinse well after use, for daily care.Remember also to use sparingly. A BLANCOCLEAN product is availablethat is specially formulated for SILGRANIT® sinks and will help maintainthe original look and beauty of the sink.

Avoid highly abrasive cleansers. However, a bleach-water solution(50/50) can be used on SILGRANIT®. For stubborn food stains, pour thebleach solution onto a cloth and cover the stain. Allow the bleach tosit for at least 1/2 hour and then clean with a dish detergent and rinseoff with water.

Keep extremely hot pots away from the sink. BLANCO SILGRANIT®

sinks will withstand temperatures of up to 280°C. However, modern potscan reach higher temperatures. Therefore, contact with extremely hotpots should be kept to a minimum.

A kitchen sink is a heavy-duty utensil and may show traces ofwear over time. Regular cleaning to remove dirt is the best formof maintenance for your sink and will extend its life and beauty.Observe this guide to the use and care of your stainless steel orSILGRANIT® sinks for best results.

Limited Lifetime Warranty:Stainless Steel and SILGRANIT® SinksBLANCO CANADA INC. hereafter referred to as BLANCO, is pleased tooffer a limited lifetime warranty with all BLANCO sinks used in normaldomestic installations. BLANCO warrants its sinks to be free from allmanufacturing defects in material and workmanship.

BLANCO will repair or replace, at no charge, excluding labour, any sinksupplied by BLANCO that is proven to be defective under normal use.An equivalent replacement will be issued to the original owner providedthe defective sink was installed in accordance with BLANCO installationprocedures, used and cleaned as recommended and not damaged due toabuse, misuse or negligence. Chips, scratches and stains are not deemedto be manufacturing defects. BLANCO will not be held liable for chips,scratches and stains that can occur under normal use over a period oftime. Please refer to cleaning instructions to maintain your sink in itsoriginal appearance. BLANCO shall not be held liable under this warrantywhere the sink has been used in a non-domestic application, improperlyinstalled, or damaged from the impact caused by a heavy object beingdropped on the sink or from improper handling. BLANCO shall not be liablefor any inconvenience or expense for material or labour related to theremoval or replacement of a defective sink or for any loss or damage toany person or property whatsoever resulting from the defective sink.All transportation costs to and from the point of purchase will be theresponsibility of the purchaser.

Any sink returned must be in the original packaging and includeall the accompanying accessories, parts and documentation.BLANCO reserves the right to inspect any sink reported to bedefective prior to replacement of the sink.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS

AccessoriesBLANCO warrants its accessories to be free from manufacturing defectsfor a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase.

Limited Lifetime Warranty: FaucetsAll faucets are thoroughly checked and tested in the factory. However,if the faucet has a manufacturing defect, BLANCO reserves the rightto replace the damaged part or the entire faucet.

BLANCO warrants its faucets to be free from manufacturing defects inmaterial and workmanship; and the finish and ceramic disk cartridge tobe free from manufacturing defects and workmanship, to the originalconsumer purchaser of the faucet from the original date of purchasefor as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home. This warranty does not cover faucets which have been improperly installedor subject to improper use or used in a location other than a residentialkitchen or faucets which have been damaged due to mineral deposits orthe use of corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents. This warranty does notcover shipping costs, labour costs or any other cost associated with theinstallation or replacement of the product/parts and is extended only tothe original consumer purchaser of the faucet.

BLANCO is not responsible or liable for indirect, special or consequentialdamages arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of itsfaucets and its liability under this warranty is limited to the replacement ofthe defective material at the location of purchase.

Obligation of the original ownerThe original dated sales receipt must be retained by the customer and isthe only acceptable proof of purchase.

BLANCO makes no additional warranties, expressed or implied and anyimplied warranty including that of merchantability or fitness for a particularpurpose, is limited in its duration to the duration of the written limitedwarranties set forth herein.

No employee, agent or other person is authorized to provide any warrantyon behalf of BLANCO for a BLANCO product that is in addition to ordifferent from the warranty stated above unless the warranty has beenpreviously approved by an authorized BLANCO representative.

Terms and Condition of sale• $100.00 net minimum order on all purchase orders except for parts.

• All sales are net 30 days.

• Prices are subject to change with 30 day notice. All orders will be invoicedat the prices in effect at the time of receipt of the order.

• Upon delivery, if there is visible damage to the carton, claims againstbreakage and or shortages must be made at time of receipt againstthe carrier. Also, please notify BLANCO of any breakage or shortagewithin 48 hours.

• Concealed damage must be reported to BLANCO within 72 hours ofreceipt of merchandise to point of shipment.

• Any item found missing from a sink or faucet must be reported toBLANCO within 48 hours of receipt of merchandise.

• BLANCO CANADA INC. will not be held responsible for any cut outdone without the use of and in accordance with the template orspecification sheet.

• BLANCO CANADA INC. reserves all rights to accept an order.

We value all our customers and aim to provide the same level ofservice to everyone. All rush orders where indicated will be processedand shipped within 48 hours from the time the order is received atBLANCO Canada. No exceptions will be made.

Return Goods Policy• All returns regardless of product and or part must be accompanied bya Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA) issued by BLANCO Canada.

• All RGA numbers are to be submitted with the original purchase ordernumber and approved by BLANCO Canada Customer Service Department.

• All non-warranty returns are subject to a restocking charge of 25%.

• All items must be returned in their original carton and be insaleable condition.

• All returns must be made by freight prepaid by sender and the sendermust assume all responsibility for shipping damages that may occur.If a product is received damaged, there will be no credit issued.BLANCO Canada reserves the right to limit and or refuse any returns.

We have also become more environmentally conscious

in our marketing activities. The paper used to make this

catalogue, as well as to produce other marketing literature

and new point-of-purchase materials, carries the

FSC-certification logo (Forest Stewardship Council).

Purchase of FSC-certified paper and print products

contributes to conservation, responsible management,

and community level benefits for people near the forests

that provide your paper. Just like other forest products,

in order to use the FSC logo as an environmental claim

on paper, the product must have flowed through the

FSC chain-of-custody from the FSC-certified forest,

to a paper manufacturer, merchant, and finally printer
