topic.• It was an interesting subject.• The topic easily affected the areas of
government, culture, and economy.
Surprising Fact:In the early 1800’s, Americans drank more than five gallons of
pure alcohol per person per year, and currently the figure is
about two gallons per adult (Carlson 35).
Surprising Fact:The Ku Klux Klan was in
support of the Eighteenth Amendment
(Rogers 26).
Surprising Fact:Annual sales of bootleg liquor were estimated at $3.6 billion in 1926, which is roughly $43.4 billion in
2010 dollars. This sum was about the same as the federal budget that
year (Rogers 28).

learned was how to find reliable research and efficiently organize my thoughts and main ideas on
paper.
