Blackboard Through the Ages K-12 Presentation Overview• Session Objectives:

– Share tips and ideas to motivate teachers in using Blackboard

– Give examples of Amarillo ISD’s uses of Blackboard– Share tips and ideas to keep them coming back for more

• Innovation:– In AISD, our trainings are aimed at each teacher’s interest

and needs. We include everyone in its creation and use.

• Results/Outcomes:– Blackboard in AISD has grown immensely in the K-12

departments over the past few years. Our growth is continually and those using it are ecstatic!

School Pilot project

• June 2002 AISD leases Economics and Government initiates pilot summer program

• September 2002 Administration formally establishes Online School and initiate program to develop courses

• December 2002 AISD obtains Bb license

• February 2003 Bb opened up to key innovators

• May 2003 Online School begins operating with its own courses
