The time has come ! Every Blackberry enthusiast who grooved to the tune " we are the blackberry boys" has a reason to smile as Blackberry on Tuesday revealed the first photos of its security -focused Android Smartphone the PRIV .
Over the years , Blackberry was losing grounds to stalwarts like Apple and Samsung , while not being able to come up with an application friendly platform such as Android . Thus , the company took a giant step in encompassing Android for work and Blackberry's BES12 platform .
Earlier this year , techies leaked pictures of Venice , which was thought to be as PRIV before the confirmation and speculated that the device will have a 5.4 inch Quad-HD screen, 13 megapixel rear view and 5 mega pixel front camera with 1.8 GHz 64-bit hexa- core snapdragon 808 . While there is no official confirmation on the specs as of now , PRIV sports 5.5-inch curved screen and going to use hexa-core snapdragon 808 as ruminated by tech frenzies .
The design tuned out to be pretty sleek and an addition of slider keyboard to an Android device might as well invigorate consumer interest for its launch later this year . CEO John Chen wrote in a statement that the company is " focused on making faster progress to achieve profitability in handset business " . The official Blackberry blog quotes Chen's impactful word " privacy is fast disappearing privilege in the modern world . The company focuses on bringing Choice , Innovation , Security , Privacy and Productivity to its consumers .

The main interface looks like a quintessential stock android but it is believed that Blackberry will incorporate its own unique services as well . Great news for people who tend to store heavy content in their phones as PRIV will come with a micro SD slot although the storage capacity is not known yet . Chen has said repeatedly in his interviews and blogs that PRIV " will combine the best of blackberry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the android platform " .
The prominence of mobile security is strong among company's dedicated users which might influence positive surge in phone's market demand . C|Net mentions testimonials of different websites such as Ars Technica which writes positively about the product as " one of the more exciting devises to come along in some time " while Android and me writes " if you have been longing for a new Android phone with a physical keyboard , Blackberry's got what you need " .

The company has not released prices or a specific release date but in an interview with Business News Network's correspondent Amber Kanwar , the CEO is seen struggling to open Google chrome and defended himself by mentioning that the device was a demo version of PRIV .
As a staunch supporter of Blackberry's services i hope the device satiates market demands and rejuvenates Blackberry's falling revenues .
