C Waller, Principal
Term 2 Issue 10 7 July 2017
Monday 24 July is Day 3
The Production has run throughout the week and has been a massive success. Well done to all those involved and thank you to Miss Eichstaedt for all her energy, enthusiasm and dedication to the Production. Her leadership, and the student’s ability and commitment, have been essential in making this a wonderful show.
It has certainly been a busy Term and I thank you all for your patience with the ongoing building at school.
Reports are now completed. Please take the time to look at them with your child. Encourage them to use the holiday to assess where they are at, and how they can achieve the best outcomes for themselves for the remainder of the year. Aim high.
Enjoy the holidays and recharge for Term three, which will be another busy Term.

Come and see our College in action
Dear parents
The Ministry of Education has asked all schools to let parents know where to find information to support the mental health and wellbeing of their children, and to let you know that the Ministry has recently updated their parents’ website with information about where parents can go to for support and advice if they are concerned about their child’s mental health.
Parents are encouraged to regularly check in with their child about how they are doing and the things going on in their lives. You will find links to organisations you can contact for help and advice if you are concerned about your child on the Ministry of Education’s website at www.parents.education.govt.nz/mental-health.

We are looking for people to volunteer their time occasionally during the school day to come in and be a reader writer with some of our Junior students.
You need to have a good understanding of English, neat hand writing and like working with teenagers. You will be required to read out the exam to a student and then write down their answers for them. The exams are up to 3 hours long but may be shorter.
If you are interested in this, please email our SENCO Annette Coker on [email protected] with your name and contact details.
We would really appreciate any support you can give us to help our students reach their full potential.
Reminders from the Sickbay…
Please ensure students see the Sick Bay if they need to go home due to sickness. It is imperative we have a record of where students are and that parents / guardians are notified if they need to go home.
If your child is unwell please keep them home where possible so they are not bringing germs to school and spreading them. A Doctor’s certificate is required for 3 or more days of absence.
BCITO Big Construction Tour
Last week four of our students were up before dawn to join the BCITO Construction Tour with many other North Shore students. The fog lifted for a stunning day to visit residential and commercial sites as well as a trade supplier and Massey University. The students had a chance to try out some plastering and building activities and a variety of
people spoke about their career paths and the huge number of opportunities that are available today in the wider construction industry. These are available to both males and females and to academic and hands on learners, with promising financial returns to all. One 24 year old builder was fully qualified to work on his own, he is now training to become a supervisor and is about to start to build his own home with the help of his company. Yes, that’s in Auckland!
If you would like to join one of these trips in the future or just find out more about trade possibilities, please see Mrs Morris or Mrs Jenkin in R2.
Rangatira reserve - track upgrades
