You are working in the hospital when an all hospital alert is called. Upon reporting to the Emergency Department, you learn that over 100 people have presented to the ED within the last few hours. Most patients have similar symptoms including cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. Some patients also have hemoptysis. You are to work as part of the decontamination team. Your responsibilities are to work with your team to: Use appropriate personal protective equipment Decontaminate patients prior to entering the Emergency Department Prevent contaminated patients from entering the treatment area, securing all entrances Control patient flow into the triage area Coordinate and communicate with the triage and treatment teams

Implement the appropriate therapy, including antidote administration, if indicated Contact the appropriate authorities Coordinate and communicate with the triage and decontamination teams
Keep in mind that there is a limited supply of the following antidotes available in the hospital: Sodium nitrite / sodium thiosulfate kits Mark I Atropine/Pralidoximine autoinjectors Potassium Iodide Botulism antitoxin Naloxone Ciprofloxacin
It will take approximately 30 minutes to obtain additional antidotes from other hospitals, if necessary.
