BioSecure : Objectives

Federate the teams involved in the biometric field

Proposal for a NoE with the following objectives : Identify and meet the scientific and technical

challenges in the Biometric field Explore non technological aspects of biometrics

such as security v.s. privacy, acceptability, reliability, impact on society and ethical aspects

Page 3: BioSecure : A Network of Excellence on Biometric identity authentication B. Dorizzi, GET-INT, France G. Chollet, GET-ENST, Paris

Some specific Objectives :

Reference algorithms for most of the Biometric modalities

Evaluation protocols on publically available databases

Fusion of modalities 4 weeks residential workshop in sept. 2005

General approach foreseen

Collaborative research program

Creation of a European development and evaluation platform for the Technological Research

Creation of a European Certification Center and usage observatory

Support technology : integration on smart-card, PDA etc…

Citizen awareness

Need and Relevance Commercial products still present some defects :

Performance, Variability, User Acceptance, Sensor Variability

European efforts are disseminated Europe has usage and legislation particularities,

cultural diversity
