    A sweet solution for safety

    A substantial matter

    Better safe than powdered

    A quick reward

Do you take sugar with your coffee? Or with your tea? And if you do, would you

rather use sugar cubes or powdered sugar? On closer consideration, this is not onlya question of personal preference. It is also a matter of substance. The same applies

to media. As a customer, you find yourself faced with a choice between powdered

media or granulated media. It is easy to see why substance

matters here. Choosing Merck Millipores granulated media

means winning protection against the health risks ofworking with powders that contain hazardous substances.

There is more to consider than safety, though. Granulationmakes handling media much easier as well.

Routinely used culture media often contain hazardous or toxic substances. Fine, powdered media produce

extensive media dust during handling. Inhalation of these hazardous components increases the likelihood ofallergic reactions. Granulation compacts fine particles into small, uniform granules. This significantly reduces

media dust generation, dispersion, and inhalation. Consequently, the reduction in airborne particles improves theoverall health and safety of the working environment. Safely put: Granulated media are a better, safer choice

    overall.

    better flow properties than conventional

powdered media. As a result they pour

cleanly in your flask or container without

    contaminating other equipment. They do

not stick to surfaces but readily sink to thebottom of the flask or container and

    dissolve more rapidly than powdered

media. This means that when you choosegranulated media you will get a quick

    reward.

A choice you can rely on

    Safer

    Accurate

    Fast

    Easier

    Reliable

Significant reduction of inhalation of toxic and

allergenic substances resulting in fewer allergicresponses. Less contamination of working tools

    and environment..

No separation of components and no clumping even under humid or warm conditions ensure a

    uniform product with higher performance

    accuracy.

Rapid and uniform dissolution in water.

Easier handling and weighing due to the betterflow properties. Media do not stick to the flask

    or container.

    Homogenous distribution of ingredients

guarantees high reproducibility even if only

small amounts of media are used.

    Your benefits

Our quality control processes for dehydrated culture media meet ISO 11133 guidelines.

Our granulated media are of highly accurate, uniform and consistent composition. Even under humid or warmconditions, media components do not disintegrate or form clumps. The granulation process provides for a

homogenous distribution of ingredients within the granules, ensuring consistent, reproducible media even when

you are using only small amounts of them. After all, it is a choice you can rely on: Granulation extends shelf life forup to five years compared to the average three-year shelf life of common powdered media.

As for the sugar in your coffee: Cubes dont clump and are less likely to spill. Just dont forget to stir.

This process is a critical requirement for sterility assurance to test overall process sterility by performing asimulated production (media fill) using microbiological growth medium, in place of actual product. Media fills area worst case challenge to a process, as pharmaceutical products typically do not support microbiologicalgrowth. This has caused concern from some drug manufacturers as microbiological culture media can themselvesbe a potential source of viable contamination. The production of dehydrated culture media is not a sterile processand biological components can contribute viable contamination. An effective approach to prevent media relatedcontamination and eliminate the handling involved with traditional media preparation is terminal sterilization of

the dehydrated culture media by irradiation.MM is your first choice for innovative quality products for your sterility assurance program. Our irradiated animaland non-animal derived Tryptic Soy Broth products will insure the integrity of your aseptic process simulations.

These granulated formulations are rigorously validated for sterility, growth performance and filtrationcharacteristics. These products comply with the compendia and guidance documents for media fill applicationsworldwide. Tryptic Soya Broth in irradiated & triple wrapped forms is available in 500gm & 05 kg packs andgranulated & powdered presentations.
