No.1 in ResearchGreater Baltimore / Central Maryland is home to the nation’s #1 research university (Johns Hopkins), the University of Maryland, NIH, and major university bioparks, making the region the world’s largest hub for medical research and discovery. Baltimore received over $800 million from the NIH in 2012 alone.
Growing Bio BaseThe region ranks 2nd for concentration of BioHealth professionals. Over 85% of local biotech firms and activities are located in the Maryland portion of the Baltimore-Washington region.
