Phase 1 Site Selection Criteria Pour point method
Systematic sampling near the mouth at all watershed scales Non-bias a roach Obtain assessment level data on all indicators
Road crossings for easy access
1 mile away from larger water bodies Lakes
Larger rivers (>2 stream orders) Wetland complexes
Natural vs. Channelized
No sites if < 5 mi 40 mi = 2 sites, 80 mi = 3, and so on.

Phase 1 Site Selection Initial sites were chosen using ArcMap
Using: Aerial photographs; streamtraces;
8, 11 and 14 digit HUCS; MN DOT roads
Existing STORET or Biological sites werepreferred locations
Sites visited in October 2010 Verified the site was accessible
Safe place to park and work Verified the site has water in it
To eliminate any problems with sitesgoing dry
Assessed the type of equipment wewould need
