Glossary BIM (building information modeling): A 3D, object-oriented approach to computer-aided design. These virtual models contain embedded data which, when shared among design team members, greatly reduces errors and makes theprocessofdesigning,constructingandoperatingbuildingsmoreefficient. IPD (integrated project delivery):Aprojectworkflowmethod,withsupportingcontracts, that leverages early contributions of knowledge and expertise through the utilization of BIM, allowing all stakeholders to better realize their highest potentials while expanding the value they provide throughout the project life cycle. IPD avoids challenges in the realization phase by allowing project data to be analyzed and understood prior to construction.
