PAS1192 Transition to ISO19650
➢ In order to continue assessing companies to the highest level of BIM
capabilities and maintain the same level of value within BIM
certification with BRE Global, our ISO 19650-2 certification scheme is
designed to assess companies against both ISO 19650, relevant
local annexes where available (e.g. BS EN ISO 19650-2 for the UK)
whilst maintaining industry best practice previously identified within
BS 1192 and PAS 1192-2 2013.
➢As ISO 19650-2 has been written from a slightly different approach
we will assess against a combination of ISO 19650-2 and BRE best
practice from national and international standards and guidance
documentation. As a result of this carefully considered approach
there are few actual changes in requirements from the BRE Global
business systems PAS scheme, which should make the transition to
ISO 19650-2 certification easier.

PAS1192 – Transition to ISO19650 cont’d
➢Examples of changes between PAS 1192:2 2013 and ISO 19650-2
include a reduction in the documented and quality management
requirements. These are examples of elements which will be
measured within the best practice guidance under the updated ISO
19650-2 BRE Global certification scheme.
➢ In response to enquiries BRE have received from industry, we
strongly advise that although the PAS and BS documentation have
been officially withdrawn, these are valuable documents highlighting
best practice and that PAS 1192-2 certification therefore represents
a more robust assessment of BIM capability than holding
certification which assesses to ISO 19650-2 only.
➢The BRE Global ISO 19650-2 certification scheme will be formally
launched in late August when we can accept applications to the new
scheme.
