Editorial The theater is something

magical and it comes to live every time when a movie is playing. The first public

exhibition ever projected in motion

pictures in the United States was at Koster and Bial's Music Hall on 34th

Street in New York City on April 23, 1896

counting with 72 seats and lasted two years. But the first permanent structure

designed for screening of movies in the state of California was Tally's Electric

Theater, completed in 1902 in Los

Angeles. Big Screen film fans, I suggest

you brace yourself for one epic season

in cinema. We have action, comedy,

animated, adventure, and even a

generous dose of vampire romance for

your viewing pleasure. They might have a collective age of… to many to count

but the grey hairs do nothing to kill the

thrills of The Avengers.

An action comic of the classic

mould, expect high- octane action and

adrenaline-charged jinks as Robert

Downey Jr., Chris Evans and co. unleash their ass – kicking and quite possibly one

of the must – see cinematic experience

of the year. Another movie that I can’t wait

to see is The Hobit that is the forth

installment of The Lord of the Rings and it

will come out in December 14, 2012. Is

about a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins,

that journeys to the Lonely Mountain

with a vigorous group of Dwarves to

reclaim a treasure stolen from them by a

dragon Smaug. This film is directed by

Peter Jackson and some of the cast is

Elijah Woods as Frodo, Hugo Weaving as

Elrond, Cate Blanchett as Galardiel,

Orlando Bloom and other artist form the

previous films.

The wait is nearly over for all the

Twi-hard fans as Twilight: Breaking Dawn

part two sweeps onto the silver screen in

a swoonsome feast of vampire loving.

Plus Diego, Manny and Sid are back

after 4 years of the highly anticipated

comedy adventure Ice Age 4. I, for one, can’t wait!

Review: It starts with a series of close ups on bruised, cut

and bandaged feet; the pain and anguish of living their

dreams, striving to beat out the odds and become what

they always have dreamed of becoming, is isolated in

the trite experiences of three roommates at the most

prestigious ballet school. Jodie is the one that has the heart but not the feet like you might call it “bad feet”; Eva has a really bad attitude but is very talented; and Maureen is the perfect one without the passion.

Top Languages

in the World Language is the

most basic way to

communicate with each

other. Without it we

would be lost and of

course If you understand

these lines,

congratulations. This

essay will inform you

about the three most

spoken languages in the

whole world, how many

people speak it and

were are spoken. They

are pretty deferent from

each other but after all,

what matters is that we

can communicate with

almost everybody how

extraordinary!

English, everybody

knows that is the key to

strive for excellence in

your career and to

communicate in the

world of business, also is

the third language

spoken in the word,

obviously the easiest to

learn full of color and

with a total number of

more than 600 million

speakers. You can speak

this language in USA,

Canada, England,

Australia, New Zealand,

Ireland, Scotland, Wales,

Belize and some other

ex-British colonies.

Spanish if one of the

most beloved languages

in the world, you can

speak this language in

several places like in

Mexico, Spain, Latin

America, and in some

places of the United

States. There are 100

million people in Mexico,

44 millions in Colombia,

41 millions in Spain, 39

million in Argentina and

22 million in the USA

speakers of this

language. Spanish is the

second most spoken in

the world and it is more

o less an easy language

to learn.

Finally the most spoken

language in the world is

Mandarin because there

are about 900 million

speakers most of them as

their mother tongue, plus

other as a second

language. It’s one of the

most difficult language

all over the world and it is

grade as a level five, so

most of the people that

know how to speak and

write it is seen as the gold

standard of intellectual

achievement. Mandarin

is spoken in China,

Taiwan and Singapore.

What a shocking

surprise Mandarin is the

most spoken language I

wouldn’t guessed it,

amazing! Then it fallows

Spanish and at last

English even though it’s

the universal language.

So watch out, if you

don’t know two of these

languages you might be

in big trouble so study

them it’s fun and you

acquire lots of

knowledge. Don’t miss

out a good movie or

conversation just

because you can’t

speak or understand

them!

May 5th, On May 5, 1862 took place one

of the biggest victories of the

Mexican army, which until now

we continue celebrating.

For all of us Mexicans no matter

where we are we always

remember this date but not

everyone knows what really

happened that morning.

In those times Juarez was

president and faced a

huge external debt with the

European countries of

France, England and

Spain. These three

countries agreed

to invade Mexico to claim

their rights, and then their

armies landed

at Veracruz. History tells us that

Juarez was a great diplomatic,

he said that respect the rights

of others is peace, but

unfortunately he could not

avoid war.

The Mexican

government explained to

Europeans the situation we

lived and agree that Mexico wi

ll pay the debt in exchange

for respect for the

sovereignty of Mexico.

Spain and England accepted

the explanation but France

didn´t.

This is how it started the

second French intervention.

The French army was one of the

best in that time, departed from

Veracruz to reach Mexico City.

French

General Charles Ferdinand

Latrille had such confidence in

defeating the Mexicans, which

he said ¨We are so superior

to the Mexicans in

organization, discipline,

race, and refinement of moral

sensibilities, which I beg to

announce to His Imperial

Majesty Napoleon III, which from

this moment and in control

of our 6,000 brave soldiers, and I

own in Mexico ". So it wasn´t an

easy task to stop them, in

response Juarez sent the East

army led by Ignacio Zaragoza to

stop them. The Mexican army

was fortified in the city of Puebla

de Zaragoza awaiting the

attack of the French.

The battle starts at quarter past

eleven, announcing the

start with a gun and

accompanied by the ringing

of the bells of the city. Try to

imagine how it feels to know you

are going to fight against one of

the best armies in the world.

A strong storm falls on the field,

softening the ground, difficult to

maintain for the French troops,

while Zaragoza sent a

telegraph to the president

in Mexico City describing the

situation. At the end of the

battle French troops

fled fighting in complete

dispersion, being rejected in

their last attack, falling back to

the Hacienda de Los Alamos. It

is said that Lorencez could not

stop of cry for the defeat, so he

decided to go back to Amozoc.

Battle of Puebla

After the battle, the

French counted 476 dead

and 345 wounded. The

Mexican army lost 83 men,

about 250 wounded and 12

missing. On day 6, and with

reinforcements of Guanajuato

in the forts,

General Zaragoza expected

Lorencez a new attack, but

this, on day 8, took a train and

went to San Agustin

del Palmar, being "greeted"

bythe Republican artillery War

and the Band of the police,

who played "Escape". This

must have been a great

humiliation for France.

Although the war did not end

there, not until 5 years

later (1867), the Battle

of Puebla became for

Mexicans a symbol of

resistance against

the invasion of foreign troops.

Well now that know you what

really happened, you can

feel proud of being Mexican

and the next May 5th don´t

forget to celebrate the

general Ignacio Zaragoza

and his glorious army.

William Shakespeare Hamlet

Hamlet is both a fantasy and nightmare. He is a character so twisted

and complex that his mind in is very hurt and would be a task of many lifetimes.

In this story Hamlet, one of the most famous characters of all times.

It starts with the news of King of Denmark’s recent death and Denmark

preparing for a possible war. In this instance, Queen Gertrude (Hamlet’s

mother) married Claudius, quickly after the King’s death. Polonius warns his

daughter, Ophelia, against falling in love with Hamlet, saying he will only break

her heart.

There is misery caused by recent events, driving him to contemplate

killing himself. Another thing is his philosophical quandary regarding the religious

ramifications of suicide.

The central themes of this

novel are: indecision, revenge,

retribution, deception, ambition,

loyalty and fate. Prince Hamlet is

sad for his father’s death and his

mother remarriage. In this drama,

the ghost of Hamlet’s father

appears to him and tells him that

Claudius (the one that is going to

marry his mother), will poison him

and Hamlet knowing this, he

swears revenge.

This novel is characterized

for being one of the best novels

made of William Shakespeare.

It has many intriguing situations that

make the reader stay on the story.

The dialogues are very intense and

dramatic, that some phrases are

recognized everywhere. I truly

recommend this novel of al William

Shakespeare’s work because it is

considered a master piece.

My Memories By: Adrian Sotelo S.

¨The good times in elementary school¨ sometimes we use to say in my

group of friends. I still can remember my oldest friends, those ones who learnt

about life with me. Unfortunately they are the first you miss after leaving

elementary school. I keep talking with some of them, but I cannot say that our

friendship has not been devalued over time.

I remember when I was at recess in my elementary school, where we

played with the tazos that came in the bag of chips. I remember that

sometimes we played ¨las trais¨ or scab, those times when we didn´t care how

we look, the only thing we cared about was having fun. Everything was so

simple and we were so innocent. When we wanted to play soccer and we

didn´t had a ball to play with, we would used to play with a soda can. That was

awesome, how 6 boys can really have a blast of fun with one simple object.

The school wasn´t so difficult, in fact I remember being one of the top

smartest students of the class having an average of 9.5, I wish I could still have it

by the way. There wasn´t a lot of homework like today, it was easy in that time.

The teachers had a lot of patience because we were young and naughty,

well even today my teachers have patience.

The first graduation of our lives, the

first after party and all this kind of

cool stuff we had the opportunity

to experience were simply

awesome and I will always

remember no matter what,

because this kind of memories

continue giving you smiles and

laughter after several years.

The other day I went to the

theater with my family to have

some family time. I was very

excited to see the movie

because I had been waiting

for it to come, but my friends

told me that they were very

busy that they and that they

couldn’t come, so that’s why I

went with my family. I was

amazed that my family liked

the movie because I

remembered that we didn’t

have the same preferences.

Throughout the movie I realized

that being with my family was

very fun and I had missed

those incredible times when we

were together. I knew then

that I had to value the days

that I had left with my family

because later I would not have

the time to do it and I will

regret it. My family is the best

thing that I can ever have and

I wouldn’t change it for

anything. Sometimes a simple

movie can make you see the

importance of things in your life

and that is the best thing

about going to a theater.

How to: Loose weight

Many people have some issues on

losing weight and they don’t know

what else to do, but there is always a

way to get out of this situation. By

these ten simple steps, you’ll lose

weight very easy and quick.

Switch up your snacks: have a plan for

healthy snacks that combines a little

bit of fat, protein. If you are counting

calories, doing the math may help: a

pound is the equivalent of 3,500

calories, so if you can cut 100 calories

out of your day, you will lose a pound

in just over a month.

Cut out high-calorie condiments and

sugars: try mustard on your burger or

sandwich instead of mayonnaise, and

order your salad dressing on the side

so that you can control the amount

you eat. Also, when you are drinking

coffee, try using Splenda.

Exercise regularly: people who

manage at least 150 minutes of

activity a week are more successful

with weight loss. Take the stairs instead

of the elevator or park a bit farther

from your destination so you have to walk.

Anticipate temptation: if you are going somewhere

with friends and family and know you'll have a hard

time controlling yourself, make a decision before

you get there about what you will eat and stick to it.

Try the veggie-loaded plate method: if you decide

to get a second plate, it had better be all

vegetables. People who eat five or more servings of

fruits and vegetables a day are more successful with

weight loss.

Skip the fast food: instead of eating fast food, try to

eat to opt for a salad, small portions. It may be a

little more expensive than fast food, but it will worth

it.

Limit the calories you drink: sweetened tea is no less

calorie-dense than soda, and you'd be better off

eating the fruit than drinking the juice.

Be accountable: whether you have a diet buddy

you check in with, a support group, or a food diary,

keeping track of your daily food choices takes only

a few minutes, but can double your weight-loss

success.

Order smaller portions: people who order smaller

portions or share a plate at restaurants are more

successful with weight loss. Ordering the lunch

portion, an appetizer, or a children's meal is much

more recommended.

Acknowledge your success: people who believe

they can succeed with weight loss actually do lose

weight more successfully. How do you gain this

confidence? Take a moment to pat yourself on the

back when you make healthy choices and achieve

your short-term goals.

B.C. in Puebla From 28 March to 8 April 10 high school students toured

the southeast of Mexico, where they could see states

Gonzalez Calderon added that students were

fascinated, because with this kind of

and origins, in addition to the typical gastronomy

of prehistoric peoples. "It's the fourth time we will

travel and is a fantastic experience to have the

opportunity to know our country, and thus have the

tools to be ambassadors of Mexico in the world," he

said.

For its part, the student Paola Guevara, said he enjoyed the trip very

much because each place had its season, something that distinguished

him and people were very different from one place to another. "Puebla was

one of the places I liked, especially by its color. This trip would do and of

course I recommend it," the students of 2nd semester.

The Tragic Death

of:Bruce Lee Bruce Lee was an

outstanding and charismatic

martial artist, actor and

philosopher. He was born the

27th of November in 1940, in

San Francisco to parents

from Hong Kong; he was

raised in Hong Kong until his

late teens. Lee returned to

the United States at the age

of 18 to claim his U.S. citizen

and receive his higher

education. It was during this

time when he began

teaching martial arts, which

soon led to film and

television roles.

It was his enthusiastic,

perseverant and positive

thinking what made Bruce

Lee a role model back in the

day. He gave his very best at

everything he did; no matter

what were the conditions he

was facing at the time. He

was always looking to

improve as human being

and against mediocrity; he

had the thought that a

person may have limitations,

but he must always be

working on improving and

exceeding his own potential.

His path to fame started with

him opening martial arts

schools, this lead to

challenges among other

talented fighters at the time,

in every single of these fight

he won; this was how he was

later discovered by

Hollywood and gave him the

opportunity to perform in the

movies industry.

He had a bright future

in acting and martial

arts; but unfortunately

he passed away too

young, at the age of 32.

Many Chinese believed

Lee was the victim of

too much gum Ilk

(intensity) in his training,

while others cited drug

use as the cause for his

sudden demise. Still

others believed that

Lee's fate was sealed at

birth, that it was in the

stars. And, finally, there

are those who think

Lee's death was staged,

and that he is merely

waiting for the right time

to return to society. The

facts of the case are

this: Lee died after

falling into a coma. The

coroner's report was

inconclusive, and

medical authorities

came up with five

reasons for Lee's

untimely death.

However, they all agreed

that it was caused by a

cerebral edema (a swelling

of the brain caused by a

congestion of fluid). But what

caused the edema became

a matter of speculation. For

the most part, the course of

events on that fateful July

day in 1973 can be pieced

together. According to Lee's

wife, Linda, Bruce met film

producer Raymond Chow at

2 p.m. at home to discuss the

making of Game of Death.

They worked until 4 p.m.,

and then drove together to

the home of Betty Tingpei, a

Taiwanese actress who was

to also have a leading role in

the film. The three went over

the script at Tingpei's home,

and then Chow left to

attend a dinner meeting.

A short time later, Lee

complained of a headache

and Tingpei gave him a

tablet of Equagesic—a kind

of super aspirin. Apart from

that, Lee reportedly

consumed nothing but a

couple of soft drinks.

At around 7:30 p.m., Lee lay

down for a nap and was still

asleep when Chow called to

ask why he and Tingpei had

not yet shown up for dinner

as planned. The actress told

Chow she could not wake

Lee.

By: Cesar Santa Cruz.

Investigative pg.36

Page 37: BIG SCREEN!

The ensuing autopsy found

traces of cannabis in Lee's

stomach, but the significance

of this discovery is debatable.

Some believe the cannabis

caused a chemical reaction

that led to the cerebral

edema, but the coroner's

inquiry refutes this theory. In

fact, one doctor was quoted

as saying that the cannabis

being in Lee's stomach was "no

more significant than if Bruce

had drunk a cup of tea that

day."

Dr. R.R. Lycette of Queen

Elizabeth Hospital viewed Lee's

death as a hypersensitivity to

one or more of the compounds

found in the headache tablet

he consumed that afternoon.

Although his skull showed no

injury, his brain had swollen

considerably, from 1,400 to

1,575 grams. None of the blood

vessels were blocked or

broken, so the possibility of a

hemorrhage was ruled out. All

of Lee's internal organs were

meticulously examined, and

the only "foreign" substance to

be found was the Equagesic.

Chow came to the apartment

and could not wake Lee either.

A doctor was summoned, and

he spent 10 minutes attempting

to revive the martial artist

before sending him by

ambulance to Queen Elizabeth

Hospital. By the time he

reached the hospital, Lee was

dead.

Foul play was immediately

suspected as having a role in

Lee's passing. Chow appeared

on television to try to settle the

public furor that quickly

developed. He explained what

happened, omitting only the

fact that Lee had not died at

home. The press soon

uncovered the truth, however,

and demanded to know what

Chow was trying to cover up.

R.D. Teare, a professor of

forensic medicine at the

University of London who had

overseen more than 90,000

autopsies, was called in and

declared that it was basically

impossible for the cannabis to

be a factor in Lee's death. In

Teare's opinion, the edema was

caused by hypersensitivity to

either meprobamate or aspirin,

or a combination of both.

Authorities accepted his view,

and a determination of

"misadventure" was stamped on

Lee's death.

Strangely, an early death was

a conceivability that Lee had

contemplated with surprising

frequency. According to his

wife Linda, he had no wish to

live to a ripe old age because

he could not stand the idea

of losing the physical abilities

he had strived so hard to

achieve.

He used to say, "If I should die

tomorrow, I will have no

regrets. I did what I wanted to

do. You can't expect more

from life."

The Importance of

Movies in Life By: Fernando Villanueva.

Some people find a relation between

the movies they like and their life,

which makes them think of what their

goal in their life is or what to do to

improve as a person. There’s no doubt

that movies can change a person’s

life, making them one of the many

ways of entertainment of all times.

I truly consider movies a good

resource for people not only to

entertain themselves for two to three

hours, but also to think what the movie

is related to their lives. They are also a

good excuse for families and friends to

have a good time and enjoy their

company. In actual life, people are

using internet to see movies, which I

consider that there is nothing wrong

with it, but when people use them to

see movies that are coming up, there

is a problem.

Movies will never be discontinued;

they will just be modified as long as

technology continues to improve by

time. We also have to stop the piracy

of movies, because it’s not only illegal,

but also its wrong seeing it as a

perspective of a moral person.

Movies have been an important

aspect of pop culture and

society. A new world where

beliefs , ideologies , opinions ,

and persuasions are captured

on camera , edited , processed

, and categorized into genres

the likes of comedy , drama ,

science fiction , horror , action ,

suspense , and then turned into

a master piece for the people.

Like most art forms, films reflect

the current state of society and

reality but conversely, they are

also capable of influencing and

shaping newer forms and

changing the perception on

how people see life.

We see many movies, and most

of it all remembers because of

interest we take in them, and

situations created in movies, we

also feel part of it, relate to it.

We attach with emotions of

movie and remember it for long

time. But when you clap for

good message in movie, do you

that message in your life?
