 TOP TEN CAMERAMANUFACTURERS

1. CanonI have had some personal experience with Canon in the past and I really like their

products. The only thing I have to say about them is that the speed of the canon cameras Idealt with is very slow. I didn’t own their best quality camera but it still was quite slow. Therebetter cameras that I have dealt with are smooth operating.

2. NikonNikon is a very good brand. I haven’t had any personal experience with Nikons but I

have heard from friends they are very good. I would trust Nikon to develop a great camera.3. Sony

Many times when you glance at a beautiful photograph asubconscious assumption occurs. People assume that because it isa beautiful photograph it would havebeen taken by an adult. Now I knowthat most of the time pictures inmagazines are taken by adults butthat isn’t my point. My question iscan you really tell the differencebetween a professional and anamateur photograph? I want to

know if age really matters and if experience means more than anopen mind? Even though teensdon’t have much experience, theyhave a very unique taste in whatwould make a great picture.

Teens and amateurs don’t know all the tricks behindphotography and yet they can still take gorgeous photos. I don’tthink it’s just the experience that takes hold between the two.Adults and teenagers look at life in two completely different ways.

A teen and an adult could take a picture of the exact same thing butthe reasoning for taking thepicture would be absolutelydifferent. Teenagers are inthe young mind set and theyknow what kind of picturewould impress their agegroup. One thing Iappreciate in professionals isthat there is more thought

process. They try to thinkwhat the right angle wouldbe and how they could make the picture look better. Typicallyteenagers accidentally take a great picture. Now that isn’t alwaysthe case but more often than not it is.

I hope now people realize teenagers and students can takeamazing pictures as well. Have some faith when you see a teen

behind the lens you’ll be surprised at what they come up with. Inmagazines all of the pictures are normally taken by well respectedphotographers but when you put a teen’s picture up to aprofessional photo you can’t always tell the difference.

I have a challenge for you. I have included three photos. Of these three can you pick out the amateur photographs from theprofessional’s? You can find the answers on the Fun N’ Games

page.

The Desperate Cry of an Amateur Photographer

Getting started with photography can be a struggle at first but onceyou know the basic information you will be on your way. Working a camera isfar from hard. You’ll be surprised on how fast you catch on. I’m going to giveyou some of my tips to help you get started. Once you start with yourcamera you won’t want to be without it.

Purchasing your digital camera is your first step. Some people don’tknow what to look for in a camera. Make sure to ask one of the sales

associates for assistance. They arealways happy to help. Here are afew of my own tips about purchasinga camera. You really need to thinkabout when you are going to beusing your camera. If you want it tobe easy to stick in your purse oryour pocket make sure to get onethat is small enough to do so. Makesure to find out about the camera’ssettings and functions because you

want to make sure you have a variety to choose from. One thing that cancause confusion when buying a camera is how many mega pixels it shouldhave. Most cameras today will have 5 mega pixels or more. A mega pixel is

the resolution range of the picture. The higher the mega pixel the betterresolution and clarity you’ll get in your picture. Another important feature ina camera is the zoom. If you think you will be doing a lot of zooming in on faraway objects make sure your camera has a high optical zoom. Most camerashave three times optical zoom or higher. There is also a feature on yourcamera called digital zoom. Digital zoom zooms in farther than optical zoombut can cause your picture to be blurry so it’s always better to use youroptical zoom first. Now you will know some background information whengoing into buy a camera. Make sure to talk to a sales associate about thecamera you are thinking about purchasing. They always have some tips andhints about each camera they sell.

Now that you know what to lookfor in a camera here are some tips whenoperating your camera. It is reallyimportant to successfully be able to

operate your camera before going outand using it. Practice at home first bytaking some practice shots and utilizingthe fancy settings. This way whenyou’re out there won’t be a problemwhen trying to take a quick photo. Thereare two basic things you should knowabout before using a camera. Don’t useyour zoom right away because this cancause your image to be blurry. To solve that problem get as close as you can to theobject before using your zoom. This will make your picture look much clearer.Another problem is that people don’t know when to use flash. The automatic settingon a camera is to have the flash on when it is needed. That means that the camera

will only use it when it is too dark. Some times you won’t want a flash because of light, the object, or the surroundings. For example, when you are taking a picture of anything glowing like a jack o’ lantern you won’t want the flash on because you willlose the glowing effect. To fix this problem simply take off the flash. Those are justsome simple starter tips to get you going.

Most cameras have fantastic modes that enhance yourpictures a lot. You really want to be aware of the pros and consof each mode. For instance, if you were trying to take a pictureof your brother or sister playing soccer you would want to usethe sport or action mode. This will help keep you main objectstill. Another setting is portrait mode. This mode is used whenthe main focus is a person up close. There are so many settings

you can use to improve your photo so make sure to read yourbook to make sure you are utilizing them to the best of theirability.

A lot of this information is really simple to follow but willcontribute to your photo a lot. Something that can make orbreak your picture is angles. If you object is a person you don’twant to make it awkward for you subject to smile or look at thecamera. Sometimes changing the angle can make more of the

surroundings visible. If you are taking a picture make sure to take the picture from afew angles so you have lots of options to choose from. Make sure before going outthat you have lots of room on your memory card. This way you can take lots of photographs and not have to delete any until after. My last piece of advice to you isto always have your camera with you on a good charge. This way you will never missone of those “Kodak Moments”.

Starting out with a camera can be difficult but don’t worry it will geteasy really quickly. Once you know what you’re doing it is a blast. Anyone canbecome a good photographer. You will be able to take fantastic pictures and sharethem with your family and friends. Be sure you do share you pictures because agreat picture shouldn’t go unnoticed. Get out there with your camera and snap upthe world.
