All of our other fundraisers benefit the student and the his/her ex- penses for the band trip. If we did not have the car show con- cession stand we would not be able to provide your band student the following for their band: quality staff, flags, costumes for guard, quality drill and music, possible uniforms in the next 5 years, equipment maintenance, varsity jackets, competition fees, April 2014

    Spring “Formal” Banquet When: May 13th

    Time: 6 PM Where: Whispering Pines Banquet Hall,

    1538 McClures Gap Road, Carlisle Cost: $6 for adults, $4 for students,

    graduating seniors are free.

    A flyer with reservation instructions will

    come out in April. We hope to see you there!

    Congratulations! Congratulations to Annie Griggs and Will Morris for making state band in

    Hershey, PA!

    Our band students are living proof that music enhances their academic en-

    deavors. Our band students excel in many areas other than music. Con-

    gratulations to the following:

    Brodie Robinson—Silver medal for the National Scholastic Art and Writing

    Awards. His award will be presented

    to him on June 6th at Carnegie Hall, NY

    Caitlin Dull—1st place at the Regional PA Junior Academy of Science. She

    also received the Ed Owens Memorial

    Scholarship. Her project will go on to the state level at PSU.

    Kim Reisch—3rd place for her microbiol-

    ogy project at the Capital Area Science and Engineering fair.

    Joe Hocker—His culinary group partici-

    pated in “taste of Carlisle” making pump-kin whoopee pies

    Adolfo Alverez—He will attend the Inter-

    national Career Development Conference for DECA.

    Regional History Day: Andrea Readshaw—2nd place for senior

    group exhibit Francesca DiPaola—Honorable Mention for

    senior individual website Yujin Yang—1st place for senior group

    website. 1st—3rd places will move on to the state

    competition at Millersville University.

    Brain Busters Team: Kim Reisch and Ben Ulrich

    2014 Scholastic Art and writing Con-

    test: Julia Lello and Jackson Hoch—

    Honorable Mention Michael Anderson and Kyle

    Whitlock—Silver Key Katie Dworak, Bodie Robinson, Jas-

    CHS Et Cetera Drama Troupe placed

    4th at state competition. Erica Buck-ley was part of this group and also

    was named in an additional award for her work with another student.

    Board Elections At the Spring Banquet we will elect our officers to our Executive commit-

    tee. These parents will conduct the day to day business of the Band

    Boosters. We still have not received any nominations for Vice President.

    Did You Know? That the Carlisle High School Band per-formed its first concert on May 5, 1927 at

    the First Lutheran Church. There were 55

    members in the band. All the band mem-bers were boys. Just to give you a per-

    spective of what the times were like as compared to today, the price of gas in

    1927 was $0.12 a gallon!

    Attention Parents of Graduating Seniors or Last Year Students All graduating seniors or last year stu-

    dent’s Student Accounts through the Trip Accounting System will be zeroed out on

    May 31st. You have three choices for the credits in the account:

    1. Transfer to another current student

    2. Transfer to the General Trip Account

    3. Use towards musical expenses as out-

    lined in our Trip Accounting System in the Parent Handbook. (Seniors only)

    If you do not designate where the credits

    will go, they will automatically go to the General Trip Fund. Any questions should

    be directed to Cheri Keller at [email protected].
